A Jervis Bay holiday is the perfect option if you’re looking to disconnect and spend some time away from your phone screen. It’s also a popular camping location, thanks to the area’s incredible nature and wildlife – including the inquisitive kangaroos that are known to hop through campsites. You can choose to stay by the beach or in the heart of the bushland. And, there’s even glamping available if you want a little extra luxury.

If you do opt to stay at one of the Jervis Bay campsites, particularly those in Booderee National Park, you’ll be in the prime position for all sorts of other activities. Whilst there’s lots to keep you occupied throughout the day in Jervis Bay, there’s even more fun to be had after the sun goes down. One of the coastline’s natural wonders is the bioluminescent plankton that sets the shore ablaze in a shade of electric blue. Although, much like the Northern Lights, this is somewhat of a rare event. So, if you want a more reliable marine-life experience, you can go on a night dive to see fish and sharks by torch light.

Serving a delicious, three-course menu, it’s the place to go if you’re feeling fancy. Alternatively, you can keep it laid-back with a few drinks at Jervis Bay Brewing Co.

Summer in Australia runs between December and February. So, if you’re looking to go camping and want the warmest weather, this is when to go. But, even during the winter the temperatures stay relatively mild, so camping outside can still be a great option. Your best bet would be to stay at Cave Beach Campground, where you can get a firepit going to keep toasty.

Jervis Bay is a popular weekend getaway for Australian families, so it’s worth booking well in advance if you want to go during peak times. There’s even a ballot system for entering the Booderee National Park campgrounds during summer holidays. So, if you’re booking last minute or want the beautiful beaches and bays all to yourself, visiting outside this window is best.
