One of Utah’s biggest attractions is its incredible ski slopes. So, if you’re looking for things to do during your holiday, a trip to Park City Mountain is just the ticket. In the winter, you can take your pick from one of the resort’s countless ski and snowboard runs, or take a hot air balloon ride over the snowy landscape at sunrise. And, there’s plenty to keep you occupied during the summer months, from rafting and fly-fishing, to music concerts and film festivals.

Skiing isn’t the only sport that Utah is famous for, with the golf courses in St George being some of the most scenic in the country. Have a round or two amid the red rock outcrops, before kicking-back in a luxury spa. Or, if you’re looking for adventure, you can head to the nearby Dixie National Forest to get your fix of hiking, biking and camping.

Wherever you decide to stay during your Utah holiday, you’ll always be within reach of some astounding natural beauty. Over in the south-west of the state, Zion National Park is a wonder to behold. Marvel at the pink and cream-rippled sandstone cliffs and stand beside the trickling streams and tributaries of the Virgin River. You can hike or horse-back ride over the rocky terrain, or wade through the immense gorge down at the Narrows. Alternatively, make your way to Monument Valley to see the iconic, free-standing rock formations. Cruise along Valley Drive, or stand beneath Teardrop Arch for spectacular views of the desert.

In the north of Utah, Bear Lake State Park offers an experience like no other. Dubbed the ‘Caribbean of the Rockies’, the lake’s bright, glittering waters and sandy shoreline make it the perfect location for watersports and summer activities. Try your hand at wakeboarding, paddling and jet-skiing, or bed-down at Rendezvous Beach for a day of snoozing in the sun. 

Utah’s capital, Salt Lake City, is a must-visit during your trip to the ‘Beehive State’. Begin your day with a trip to Temple Square and admire the regal-looking architecture of the main temple, complete with domed windows and glistening, monzonite spires. You can take a tour of the grounds to learn more about Mormon beliefs and culture, or visit the square’s perfectly-pruned gardens. From here, head over to Red Butte Garden, where you can stroll past sweet-smelling roses, lilacs and daffodils, or catch an outdoor concert at the amphitheatre.

No trip to this city is complete without seeing the Great Salt Lake. As the eighth largest saltwater lake in the world, it’s one of Utah’s most popular attractions. Embark on a leisurely bike-ride along the picturesque shoreline, or set out on a kayaking adventure from the lake’s marina. Or, if you’d rather sit-back and relax, why not explore the area on a romantic yacht cruise?

Although the temperatures from December to February can often sit below freezing, these months are ideal for a holiday in Utah. With the skiing season in full force and the world-renowned Sundance Film Festival taking place in Park City, there’s lots going on for you to get involved in. Visit one of the incredible national parks to witness some unique, snowy scenery, or head to Salt Lake City to see the magical Christmas lights at Temple Square.
