Home to some of Australia’s best beaches, a world-class food scene, the nation’s oldest wine region, UNESCO-listed natural spectacles and incredible wildlife, New South Wales is Australia’s most visited state. The capital of New South Wales, Sydney, needs no introduction. But with so much going on in this diverse city, you need to allow enough time to make the most of it. That's why our Sydney and Beyond adventure starts with four nights in buzzing Sydney – giving you plenty of time to discover this cultural melting pot and oh-so-cool metropolis.

Your last nine days will be spent exploring the rest of New South Wales at your leisure in a fully equipped motorhome – complete with your own shower and kitchen. You'll collect and drop off your motorhome in Sydney, but what you do in-between is up to you. Why not head inland to discover the UNESCO-listed Blue Mountains or sample some fine wines among the ancient vines of the Hunter Valley? Or, for incredible beaches, head south of Sydney to Jervis Bay, where you can marvel at crystal-clear waters and pure white sands. Whatever you're in to, New South Wales has plenty to keep you entertained.

Days 1–4

Sydney

Welcome to Sydney! With four nights here, you can really take in all the major landmarks. If it’s your first time in Sydney, be sure to check out the icons that make the city so famous. Circular Quay is a great place to start – it's where you'll find the Sydney Opera House, iconic views of Sydney Harbour Bridge, great bars and restaurants, and an all-round buzz. And The Rocks – a historic neighbourhood filled with laneways, markets and cafes – and the Royal Botanic Garden which are just a short stroll away.

If you want to get a taste of Sydney’s relaxed beach lifestyle, the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is a must-do. This iconic pathway offers outstanding ocean views and the chance to swim in the sea, too. For another taste of local life, head to Bondi Beach for a surf lesson. Or simply sit on the sands and watch the pros in action.

One of Sydney’s biggest draws is its world-class culinary scene. Discover flavours from across the globe, ranging from street food to fine dining, as well as restaurants and bars with picture-perfect backdrops. Sydney also offers a host of cultural experiences, too, with Aboriginal tours, world-class museums and art galleries. Sydney is a diverse and welcoming city.

Days 5–13

New South Wales by Campervan

On day five, you'll pick up your fully-equipped motorhome – complete with its own toilet, shower and kitchen – and set off to explore the wider state of New South Wales at your leisure. Over the next nine days, you can travel at your own pace, and pick and choose where you wish to spend each night.

Being such a diverse state, New South Wales has endless itinerary options. Want to hit the beach? South of Sydney, the region of Jervis Bay is home to some of the world’s whitest sands. Or, how about a trip north following the Pacific Highway along the coastline up to one of Australia’s most popular coastal towns, Byron Bay? Alternatively, head inland from Sydney to check out the Blue Mountains and popular Hunter Valley wine region. Whatever route you take, you’re sure to have an adventure.
