If you’re looking for lots of sun, sea and sea sports plus an eclectic and vibrant nightlife, you can’t go wrong with a holiday in Pattaya -- one of Thailand’s premier beach resorts. Just a short journey from bustling Bangkok, Pattaya has grown into an adventure playground that attracts visitors from across the world. With a huge range of fabulous activities, Pattaya is fast becoming one of the most popular tourist spots in Thailand.
Pattaya is a holiday destination that has it all. Famed for its beautiful golf courses, many opt for a round or two whilst drinking in the beautiful lush green scenery; pack a cooler and a blanket or two and head to Park Tower for the awe inspiring views of lush green vegetation, slowly meandering into sandy coves and beaches.
For those looking to chill out, you can spend a day in your luxury resort sunbathing by the infinity pool and cooling down with a freshly made cocktail or two. With a staggering array of beach and watersports, there will never be a dull moment. Kayaking, parasailing and diving excursions are all readily available along the beaches, as well as certified diving courses, snorkelling and even cave exploring, as Pattaya is home to many underwater sea cave systems.
Alternatively, drink in the lush scenery of Pattaya with an elephant trek. These 90-minute rides include fascinating info about elephant life as well as the chance to wade through rushing rivers and deep forest. An absolute must for the adventurous!
Pattaya is also home to a vast array of fascinating dive centres; an excursion includes full equipment, fishing boat guide plus a lunch on one of the many secluded beaches. The dives provide a fascinating insight to the beautiful coral and tropical fish -- just don’t forget to pack a waterproof camera!
The Pattaya dive centre also offers PADI water certification courses, which take around three days to complete.
Pattaya town, with its famous strip of bars, restaurants and nightclubs is a thoroughly entertaining place to spend the evening. Taken with a sense of humour, Pattaya offers fantastic live music venues, cabarets, dance halls and nightclubs. The beach side cocktail bars are not to be missed either, with fantastic tropical cocktails and live singing.
After a long day’s night, there can be nothing better than lazing on a beautiful beach, cocktail in hand. In Pattaya, you are spoiled for choice. Famed for its acres of beach, Pattaya Beach offers a calming respite after adventure filled days of elephant trekking, diving and snorkelling. With a great selection of cocktail bars and restaurants lining the beach, a day of relaxation, sampling the fantastic cuisine and listening to some traditional Thai stories is just what the doctor ordered.
Pattaya is located at the top of the Gulf of Thailand, and benefits from very high temperatures year round. It also experiences annual monsoons during the wet season.
Pattaya’s ‘cool season’ is perhaps the busiest. November through to February experiences the ‘perfect’ weather -- with high temperatures averaging at 31ºC and very little rain, it is commonly the busiest time for tourism, with season prices usually at their highest and water sports the most popular, particularly diving and parasailing.
Pattaya’s ‘hot season’ is from March through to May. Temperatures commonly exceed 33ºC, with lowest temperatures averaging 25ºC. The hot season experiences very high humidity and occasional rainfall, which helps to clear the hot air. The days are also long and very sunny with additional water sports such as sea-cave exploration, kayaking and fishing becoming available.
The third and last season Pattaya experiences is the ‘rainy season’. Dubiously named, as the rainy season between June and October still benefits from very high temperatures and lots of sunshine, rainfall is intermittent, with temperatures fluctuating between 30ºC to 25ºC at night. Still an extremely popular time to visit, the months from June to October have lower priced hotels and the beaches are less busy, making it perfect for a cheap, quieter getaway.

A thriving beach resort on the Gulf of Thailand, Pattaya is on the east coast of the country and has become a tourist haven. The exciting mix of family-friendly resorts and adventure opportunities makes the city an attractive proposition. Here is what to pack.
Medical supplies and toiletries are all readily available in Pattaya but things like lip balm, sunscreen, after sun and insect repellent are key additions. With the biggest pull being the golden sands, make sure you have sunglasses, flip flops and beachwear in your luggage.
It is mainly casual around the resorts and the city itself so shorts and t-shirts for the day with light long-sleeve shirts and long pants in the evening are appropriate. Certain nightclubs and restaurants may require a little more.
There are a number of activities like watersports and elephant riding available so take these into consideration when getting down to packing your luggage.
Hot and humid year round, the average peak temperature in Pattaya is touching 30ºC and there are three main seasons. From November to February you get little rain with warm weather – unsurprisingly it is the busiest time in the tourist calendar.
March through May get hotter but this is a sticky and uncomfortable climate. Humidity is high and there is a bit of rain to cool things off but it isn’t common with travellers. There are still more tourists then than in the rainy season, though. From June to October, Pattaya sees a low season – and mosquito-breeding season – as the brief but intense downpours hit the beach resort.
