Filling your time in Constantia couldn’t be easier. Aside from visiting wineries, there’s lots to do here. You can take it easy with a day of window shopping around town, browsing the carefully-curated clothing boutiques, jewellery stores, book shops and bakeries. Or, if you’re all about nature, you can set out on a relaxing horseback ride through the vineyards.

If you fancy staying active during your Constantia holiday, why not pay a visit to one of the area’s golf courses? Play a round or two while soaking up the sun, before getting ready for your next adventure. And, if you really want to get your heart pumping, there’s always the nearby Cape Town Zipline.

Like most places that neighbour Cape Town, Constantia boasts a landscape that calls to be explored. Whether you fancy a leisurely walk or a more challenging hike, there’s plenty of places to go nearby. Start off easy with the Alphen Trail, taking you past the river and through gorgeous, grassy meadows.

Then, take a trip to the De Hel Nature Area and venture along the forest paths.
For a bit more of a challenge, make your way to Table Mountain National Park. Boasting jaw-dropping scenery, the Skeleton Gorge hike is only a 15-minute drive away. Or, closer still, the Cecilia Forest hike is another fantastic option. And, you’ll only be a skip away from the incredible Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.

One of the main reasons for visiting Constantia is undoubtedly the wineries. And, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to where to go. With vines planted back in 1825, Buitenverwachting is a firm favourite for many. Experience the South African countryside at its best, tasting wine and tucking into cheese and meat platters in the sunshine.

Eagle’s Nest is a great spot to visit if you’re visiting with family. But, in terms of great views, Beau Constantia is hard to top. Gaze out over False Bay – with the surrounding mountains as a backdrop – as you sip on world-class wines. Foodies will love it here, too, thanks to the on-site restaurant serving up an array of fantastic flavours.

Picnics on the meadow, al-fresco wine tasting, and horseback riding through the sprawling vineyards – everything about a Constantia holiday lends itself to summer. Visit between December and March, and you’ll get hot, sunny weather, with plenty of blue skies thrown in there too. Perfect for outdoor exploring and ideal if you want to venture a little further to one of Cape Town’s incredible beaches, too.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for some good deals, planning your holiday in a shoulder month might be an idea. November and April are both great choices; the weather will still be pretty perky – maybe even warm enough for a swim in the sea - and you’ll have lots of options when it comes to booking low-cost accommodation.
