Costa Rica

Guanacaste & Tamarindo Holidays

GUANACASTE & TAMARINDO? TICK.

In the northwest corner of Costa Rica, the province of Guanacaste serves up sugar-white sands, turquoise waters and vibrant jungles. Holidays to Tamarindo and Guanacaste open up a world where secluded beaches sit beside lively towns, while the tropical parks are filled with wildlife and a variety of activities. Couples, families and adventurers alike will find paradise here, from Tamarindo Beach to the Papagayo Peninsula and beyond.

Diverse Guanacaste has something for everyone. Hot springs and mud pools bubble in the earth, while active volcanoes loom over green forests, golden forests and blue seas. You can explore by horse or quad-bike, and hike along trails to cascading waterfalls and rich jungles. Adventurers will love the canopy climbs and mile-long zip-lines, while nature-lovers can check out the wildlife parks and thriving dive sites. The stunning beaches and coves are ideal for those who want to swim or relax. And Tamarindo’s waves were made for surfing.

You can see all sorts of animals on your Guanacaste holiday. Look out for sleepy sloths, cheeky monkeys, and bright red macaws. And, if you plan your trip between October and February, you might be able to witness the arribada, when hundreds of sea turtles gather on Guanacaste’s beaches to nest. It’s one of the most mesmerising sights not just in Costa Rica, but anywhere in the world.

It’s easy to discover Guanacaste as part of an escorted tour of Costa Rica. Alternatively, if you want to travel independently, you can combine your stay in Guanacaste with a road trip from San José, and stop off in Monteverde on the way. However you want to explore, Guanacaste, Tamarindo and the Papagayo Peninsula serve up unforgettable adventures on the western edge of stunning Costa Rica.
