Scottsdale Holidays

Get inspiration

SCOTTSDALE? SORTED.

Part of the wider Phoenix metropolitan area, the sun-soaked city of Scottsdale seamlessly combines modern-day style with Wild West charm. On a Scottsdale holiday, you’ll be able to discover time-stamped landmarks, immaculate golf courses and rolling desert landscapes. And you’ll be just a 20-minute drive from the heart of Phoenix – the state capital of Arizona.

Scottsdale holidays blur the lines between past and present. The city is peppered with slick art galleries, top-notch hotels and retro landmarks. One minute, you could be browsing the Scottsdale Museum of Modern Art, and the next you could be admiring an age-old church built by the city’s first Mexican settlers. You’ll feel like you’ve travelled through time in Old Town Scottsdale, as you stroll past a Western-style saloon and cowboy-style shops. By contrast, if you venture further out of the city, you’ll find dozens of world-class golf courses, including the award-winning TPC Scottsdale.

As a desert city, Scottsdale also serves up lots of outdoor adventures. You can explore McDowell Sonoran Preserve, where the trails are ideal for hiking and biking. Or don your trainers and trek to the top of Camelback Mountain for sweeping views of the surrounding desert. Prefer to see some exotic flora? Head to Scottsdale’s Desert Botanical Gardens to admire bright wildflowers and loads of cacti.

If you want to extend your Scottsdale holiday, our Travel Specialists can help you plan an exciting trip through Arizona and beyond. You could hire a car and drive to Lake Powell – where you can enjoy endless watersports – or see some of Arizona’s stunning natural landmarks, like the Grand Canyon and Antelope Canyon. For the grand finale, you could even spend a few nights in Las Vegas, just across the border in Nevada. However you want to holiday, we’ll make it happen.

Scottsdale golf courses

Scottsdale holidays are hugely popular among golfers, as the wider Phoenix area has nearly 200 golf courses. But TPC Scottsdale takes the crown, with two immaculate 18-hole courses. The award-winning Stadium Course hosts the PGA Phoenix Open every year, while the Randy Heckenkemper-designed Champions Course was completely remodelled in 2007. The best part? Both courses are open to the public. Whichever one you choose, you can play on manicured greens and pristine fairways, all surrounded by the beautiful McDowell Mountains.

Alternatively, for desert views, tee off on Rancho Manana. Just north of Scottsdale, this par-70 course makes a great challenge for experienced golfers. And you’ll be staggered by the scenery, which varies from dramatic peaks to unspoiled desert.

If you’re a beginner – or you simply fancy a quick round – then make tracks for Mountain Shadows. Set against Camelback Mountain, the aptly-named Short Course is a par-three, 18-hole course, with lovely fairways and puzzling greens.
