But the most famous attraction is the Beverly Hills sign, which is reflected perfectly in the lily pond below.

Spadena House should also be on your list. Known as “The Witch’s House”, this eccentric home looks like something out of a fairytale.

Speaking of fiction, Greystone Mansion is another must-visit. This grand Tudor-style manor has featured in all sorts of blockbusters, including The Bodyguard, X-Men and The Social Network.

Hiring a car for your Beverly Hills holiday? Meander along Mulholland Drive, which boasts sweeping views of the Los Angeles Basin, Downtown LA and the Hollywood Sign. This stretch of road also has some of the world’s most expensive homes, mostly owned by the Hollywood elite.

Splash the cash at one of the world’s most luxurious fashion hubs, Rodeo Drive. This exclusive two-mile street is home to an impressive collection of designer stores ranging from Gucci and Prada, to Jimmy Choo and Versace. And, if you need to boost your energy after all that shopping, why not head to the Beverly Hills Hotel for lunch? This high-end spot is where you’ll find The Polo Lounge – a popular celebrity haunt, serving Italian-inspired cuisine and handcrafted cocktails.

As you might expect, the dining scene in Beverly Hills caters to the rich and famous, so there’s no shortage of swanky places to eat. For a special meal, book a table at The Ivy – where there’s invariably some paparazzi lurking outside – or make a reservation for Mastro’s Steakhouse for top-notch grills and seafood. Looking for somewhere more budget-friendly? Tuck into hearty bagels at Nate ’n’ Al, fill up on noodles and dumplings at Northern Café, or feast on Japanese barbecue at Gyu-Kaku.

If you want to explore further on your Beverly Hills holiday, you’ll find plenty of things to do in LA and beyond. Venture into Hollywood, where you can stroll along the star-stamped Walk of Fame, looking out for the names of your favourite actors. Go behind the scenes at Universal Studios or Warner Bros Studios, and make sure you snap a photo of the famous Hollywood sign.

Travelling with kids? Make tracks for Disneyland® Park in Anaheim, just a 45-minute drive southeast of Beverly Hills. This jam-packed theme park has attractions for all ages, including tot-friendly rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Adrenaline junkies, meanwhile, can get their thrills on rollercoasters like Space Mountain and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. 

And, if you want to soak up some of that California sunshine, spend a day on the sandy shores of Santa Monica. Only a 15-minute drive from Beverly Hills, this coastal city boasts a lovely beach, great surfing, delicious dining and a vibrant pier.

June to August is the most popular time for a Beverly Hills holiday, as temperatures hover in the high-twenties – ideal for exploring the palm-lined streets, dining outdoors and relaxing at the nearby beaches. But this is also when the city is at its busiest, so some attractions can get rather crowded. To beat the rush – and still enjoy good weather – visit Beverly Hills in April or May. Or plan your holiday for September or October, when winds from the Nevada Desert keep the city lovely and warm.

If you’re eager to do some celeb-spotting, however, remember that all the major award ceremonies take place in winter. The Golden Globes, the Grammys and the Oscars all occur within the first two months of the year – so this is when all the major VIPs are sure to be in town. Don’t be put off by the fact it’s winter, either, as it’s rare for temperatures to fall below 18°C.
