Anaheim Holidays

Get inspiration

ANAHEIM TRIP? TICK.

In Southern California, Anaheim is home to lovely green spaces, buzzing sports stadiums and thrilling theme parks – so it’s hardly surprising that Anaheim holidays are hugely popular with families. Plus, the city is just 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles, putting you within easy reach of world-famous sites like the Walk of Fame and the Hollywood sign.

Anaheim is crammed with family-friendly attractions, but it’s best known as the home of Disneyland® Park. In this fairytale place, you can meet your favourite characters, discover fantasy lands and ride heart-racing rollercoasters. Whether you’re travelling with tots or teens – or no children at all! – you should spend at least one day of your Anaheim holiday at this magical theme park.

Elsewhere, Adventure City has gentle rides which are ideal for little ones, while Yorba Regional Park is the perfect place for a sunny picnic or family bike ride. If you’re a sporty bunch, why not watch the Anaheim Ducks play ice hockey, or cheer on the Los Angeles Angels at a baseball game? Take a day trip to Hollywood, where you can tick off all the iconic landmarks. Or spend an afternoon at one of the nearby beaches, such as Huntington or Santa Monica.

Whether you’re dreaming of an action-packed trip or a lazy break under the Californian sunshine, our Anaheim holidays tick all the boxes. Tempted? Speak to our Travel Specialists to start planning your tailor-made getaway.

Disneyland® Park

When you think of Disney theme parks in the US, Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando probably first springs to mind. But Anaheim also has its very own Disneyland® Park, made up of nine lands with a variety of attractions for all ages.

Little ones will love Fantasyland, where they can see their favourite characters and enjoy slow-paced rides like Snow White’s Enchanted Wish and Dumbo the Flying Elephant.

Elsewhere, the areas of Frontierland and Tomorrowland are ideal for tweens, with thrilling options like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Adventurous teens and adults, meanwhile, will love adrenaline-pumping rides like Space Mountain and Indiana Jones™ Adventure. But, above all, Star Wars fans will be in their element. First opened in 2019, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is Disney’s latest theme park. Get ready to immerse yourself in a galaxy far, far away, as you ride two white-knuckle rollercoasters, visit Savi’s Workshop and browse Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.

Things to do in Anaheim

Anaheim holidays are synonymous with Disneyland® Park, but that’s not the only attraction. You’ll find lots of things to do in Anaheim, beyond the House of Mouse. Sports enthusiasts should make tracks for the Honda Center, where you can watch the Anaheim Ducks take to the ice for a high-speed hockey match. Or you could catch a baseball game at Angel Stadium – it’s the home ground of the Los Angeles Angels team.

If you’re planning a family holiday to Anaheim, make sure you spend a day at Adventure City. One of the smallest theme parks in California, this place has 17 rides, shows and activities, including tot-friendly rollercoasters, a drop tower and a petting zoo. Plus, with very reasonable tickets prices, it makes a great budget-friendly alternative to the larger theme parks.

Families will also love Yorba Regional Park. Spanning 140 acres, this green space has four lakes and several playgrounds, plus lots of bike trails, barbecues and picnic tables – so it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon in the sun.

Want to see more of California on your Anaheim holiday? Drive 30 minutes northwest and you’ll reach the glamorous city of Los Angeles. You can shop ‘til you drop on Rodeo Drive, see the iconic Hollywood sign, and step into your favourite films at Universal Studios or Warner Bros Studios. Hike up to the Griffith Observatory or meander down the Walk of Fame, looking out for the names of all your favourite actors and musicians.

If you fancy a beach day, you’ll be spoiled for choice. You could drive half an hour south to Huntington Beach and spend an afternoon learning to surf. Or, slightly further afield to the west, Santa Monica serves up a beautiful sandy beach, bustling pier and a fantastic range of restaurants.

Alternatively, if you want to see some stunning desert scenery, you could take a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park. Less than a two-hour drive from Anaheim, this otherworldly landscape is filled with dramatic peaks, spiky cacti and – of course – gnarly Joshua trees.

Best time to visit Hollywood

Anaheim holidays are perfect for families, so you’ll be pleased to know that the city sees its warmest weather during the summer school holidays. Between June and August, you can look forward to long, sunny days and toasty temperatures between the high-twenties and low-thirties. But this is also Anaheim’s busiest season – so you can expect theme park queues to be longer and attractions to be busier.

If you’re keen to avoid the busy summer months, consider travelling between March and May or September and October. In spring, the mercury hovers around 25°C, while autumn is slightly hotter – ideal for travelling during the Easter holidays or October half term. Naturally, if you’re not travelling with children, it’s best to plan your Anaheim holiday for term time, when the city will be much quieter.
