With no migration, except for the birds, game viewing in Madikwe is excellent all year round. Spotting animals can be easier during the dry season, March to October, when vegetation is thinner and wildlife gathers close to the permanent waterholes. You will also experience less traffic at this time of year and milder temperatures of around 25°C to 30°C at the peak of the day.

Warm layers are recommended for the early morning and night-time chill. November to February brings higher rainfall along with rich blossoms, newborn mammals, and flocks of migrating birds. Wet season days are hot and humid, often reaching over 35°C, but timing your game drives for dawn and dusk means you can pass the hottest hours in your lodge swimming pool, spa, or air-conditioned room.
