New Jersey holidays

Get inspiration

JERSEY SHORE? SORTED.

From the Delaware River in the west, to 130 miles of sandy shoreline in the east, New Jersey serves up beaches, countryside, history and, above all, entertainment. You can travel the full range of the Garden State’s varied and beautiful Atlantic coast, and taste saltwater taffy on Atlantic City’s 150-year-old boardwalk. From the 18th-century Art Deco promenade of Cape May in the south, to Liberty State Park in the north – which is overlooked by the State of Liberty – New Jersey holidays are all about sun-soaked beach days, laidback restaurant evenings, and casino nights.

Walk the historic corridors of the majestic Princeton University with a local student guide, then visit nearby Battlefield State Park where George Washington finally defeated the British in 1777. Head 20 minutes’ south to the bustling state capital, Trenton. Here, you can wander through Grounds for Sculpture’s 42 acres of art-dotted parkland, or discover history and space at the New Jersey State Museum.

Travelling with the kids? Thrill-seekers will love the adrenaline rush of the rollercoasters at Six Flags Great Adventure, while little ones will enjoy the classic fairground rides and amusements at Morey’s Piers amusement park. Take a tour inside the weird and wonderful Lucy the Elephant – a six-storey feat of novelty architecture. Discover underwater worlds at Adventure Aquarium, or search for wild dolphins and whales on a boat trip. Or get back to nature when you go hiking in the Delaware Water Gap or walk through the scenic Pine Barrens.

Whatever you’re looking for on a trip with the family, your partner or a gang of friends, a trip to New Jersey ticks all the boxes. Speak to our Travel Specialists to find out more.

Spend an afternoon boutique shopping, stroll down the picturesque promenade, eat fresh seafood from gourmet restaurants, and end the day with a spine-tingling ghost tour.

Tread the boardwalks

The reputation of Atlantic City might be built on its casinos, but it's the city’s famous boardwalk which is most cherished by visitors. America’s first boardwalk runs for nearly six miles – having been extended from the original four built in 1870 – alongside the Jersey shore, weaving past beaches, hotels, restaurants and glittering casinos.

It might have been the first, but Atlantic City’s is not the only boardwalk in New Jersey. Just half an hour down the coast, the vibrant Ocean City Boardwalk is popular with cyclists, roller-bladers and walkers. You can sample saltwater taffy, check out the seaside attractions, and enjoy the panoramic views. Further north, Jenkinson’s Boardwalk is home to timeless fairground rides, an ice-cream parlour and an aquarium. At the southern tip of New Jersey, meanwhile, Morey’s Piers amusement park boasts more than 100 rides, with options for all ages.
