Pavement cafés, fine restaurants, and street food vendors – the seafood in Nha Trang is a cut above
Direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh make Nha Trang the perfect beach stay on your Vietnam trip
Famous across Vietnam for its seafood, Nha Trang is a beachside retreat with plenty going on. This play offers a relaxing stay, tucked away from the huge cities in the north and south. Nha Trang holidays open up a world of sand, sea, spirituality and celebration, as both serene temples and bustling bars sit in the shadow of the inland mountains.
A popular resort for decades, Nah Trang has plenty to occupy visitors of every age. You can expect to find museums, restaurants and street food, alongside temples, markets and thriving nightlife. And there’s a whole array of activities to enjoy both on land and in the sea. Dive beneath the blue waters to see the stunning coastal marine life. Take a kayak tour of sea caves. Or sail out to the stunning and varied islands, just a short distance offshore.
Back on dry land, you can visit a working fishing village, or enjoy a little tranquillity at Po Nagar temple or Long Son pagoda. Or you could head into the countryside to discover striking waterfalls, hidden among tree-lined hills. Taking the kids? Spend a family day on the rides and attractions at Vinpearl Land. Admire the Gothic architecture of Nha Tho Nui Cathedral. And, at the end of the day, you can sit down by the sands, grab a drink, and watch the sun set on another incredible Vietnam day.
There are lots of options for your Nha Trang holiday. You can easily extend your trip with some time in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, as there are direct flights available to both. And, if you want to embark on a real Asian adventure, you’ll have plenty of options. You can fly from Cam Ranh International Airport to Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. You’ll find plenty of things to do on your Nha Trang holiday. You can hit the beach, taste street food, browse the markets, and enjoy a lively night out – and that’s just in one day.
Get out onto the sea to explore the hidden caves and local islands, where you’ll share the shores with monkeys, and the lagoons with turtles. And make sure you explore Vietnam’s underwater world. Whether you snorkel or scuba, you’ll find plenty to see around the coral reefs, shipwrecks, and tiny islands.
Discover the sights, sounds, and flavours of Vietnam’s famous fishing villages, from the central Van Gia to remote places like Bich Dam, Khai Luong, and Ninh Thuy. Take the cable car to Vinpearl Island for stunning views across the coast and out to sea, before enjoy an action-packed day out at the theme park of Vinpearl Land.
Nha Trang holidays always involve lazy days on the sand. Vibrant Tran Phu Beach is filled with life, great dining spots, watersports, and entertainment. Luxurious Nhu Tien Beach offers palm-lined sands, perfect for calmer activities like yoga and snorkelling, or even golf on the nearby course. Meanwhile, soft sands and blue waters are the main attractions at the quieter Bai Dai Beach, which is very popular with the locals. Further afield, the stunning 18-kilometre Doc Let is more than worth the hour drive to visit.
Off-shore, Nha Trang’s waters are dotted with islands. You can explore the black rocks and caves of Hon Mun, where the coral-filled waters are perfect for diving. Or see the cheeky residents of Monkey Island, where shops and cafés line the streets, while kayaking and jet-skiing bring adventure to the waters.
A city beach, a never-ending selection of cafés and restaurants, and nights filled with bars, clubs, and live music combine to make Nha Trang an entertaining destination for everyone. You can explore the seventh-century Po Nagar temple complex, and admire its stunning 28-metre-high North Tower. Or marvel at Long Son pagoda and its neighbouring giant Buddha, at the base of Trai Thuy Mountain.
Approaching its centenary, the French Gothic architecture and square clock tower of Nha Tho Nui Cathedral provide a beautiful contrast to the town's mountain backdrop. And you can learn about the highs and lows of the seas at the National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam, which tells the tales of the bountiful, and sometimes dangerous, coastal waters. Markets flourish throughout this city, so you’ll find plenty to see. You can browse the traditional and bustling Dam Market, treat your taste buds at Xoi Moi Market, and shop for trinkets at the colourful Nha Trang Night Market.
February to June is the best time to visit Nha Trang, when temperatures hover between 25°C and 30°C. You can expect sunny days and minimal rain at this time of year. Diving is best between April and August, but the clear waters mean you can generally enjoy good conditions from January right through to August.
September to December is monsoon season on this section of the Vietnam coast, so you can expect heavy rains and winds during this time. Summer temperatures can rise to almost 35°C in July and August, so this is also a popular time for lazy beach days and watersports. Although, when you want to escape the heat, Hon Ba Nature Reserve – just two hours from the city – has a cooler climate, as it’s perched on a mountain almost 1,600 metres above sea level.
