Victoria Holidays

Easy escapes to Victoria

Situated in the southeastern corner of Australia, Victoria is one of the country’s most progressive and fast-growing states, with a diverse population and a fascinating array of cultural experiences. On a holiday to Victoria, you can expect to discover striking coastlines, pristine beaches and national parks, as well as a number of lush forests teeming with wildlife.

With the foodie, cultural and sports-loving city of Melbourne as its hub, Victoria is as diverse geographically as it is across food and drink. A maze of coffee shops, laidback brunch spots and rooftop bars, Melbourne is commonly referred to as the nation's capital of cool – and it’s a must-visit on any holiday to Australia. You can explore colourful laneways, wander along the Yarra River, and watch a match at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Beyond city life, a trip to Victoria offers wineries, lakes and mountains, along with one of the most scenic drives in the world. The Great Ocean Road hugs the coastline all the way from Torquay to Allansford, weaving past incredible rock formations and bright blue sea for 150 miles. You’ll see famous postcard-worthy spots like the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge.

Victoria’s varied climate and incredible diversity means it suits all kinds of travellers. Whether you’re going solo, travelling as a couple or taking the kids, you’ll find beautiful beaches, cultural gems and a fantastic dining scene. Victoria also makes a great starting point for a Australia escorted tour, as you’ll just be sandwiched between South Australia and New South Wales. Or you could hop on a plane and visit New Zealand. Whatever you’re planning, our experts can design your holiday to suit you.

Best time to visit Victoria

Victoria's climate is as diverse as the state itself. It ranges from hot and semi-arid in the northwest, to cooler, fresher weather along the coast. Like the UK, Victoria has four seasons, and the weather here is far less extreme than other Australian states. The varied seasons means the best time to travel depends on what you want to see and do.

The summer months of December, January and February see temperatures hover in the early-twenties – so you can soak up some sun, but still explore in comfort. Spring and autumn are cooler, with day temperatures between 13°C and 17°C. May and October tend to be the wettest months so remember to pack a brolly.

Alternatively, you could go to Victoria in winter. Between June and August, temperatures hover around 10°C, with the odd frosty night. While you won’t get a tan at this time of year, it’s the perfect time to see Victoria without the crowds. Winter is also peak time for whale migration along Victoria’s coastline, so you’re likely to spot humpbacks and orcas.
