Honeymoons in St Lucia

With luxurious resorts, exotic jungles and beaches that frequently top the ‘best of’ lists, it’s no wonder that St Lucia is a favourite destination for newlyweds. Tucked away in the western Caribbean, St Lucia is a tranquil hideaway, practically designed for honeymoons. It’s the perfect island for spending quality time together after the whirlwind of wedding planning. In your romantic resort, you can unwind on sugary sands, enjoy fruity cocktails by the pool, and tuck into a gourmet dinner at sunset. But there’s plenty in the way of adventure too, if you want to break up your beach time with some activities. Being a tropical island, St Lucia only has two seasons – dry and wet. December to May is the best time to go, which is perfect timing if you’re planning to get married in summer or autumn.

Why Choose a Honeymoon in St Lucia?

St Lucia is renowned for being one of the most romantic islands in both the Caribbean and the world. For many newlywed couples, the ideal way to celebrate their marriage is to spend lots of time together, doing as little as possible – and St Lucia provides a great backdrop. There are plenty of secluded coves for private beach walks, along with stylish restaurants and adults-only resorts. You can spend your days on the beach, then head to your hotel spa for a therapeutic massage, followed by a rum cocktail at sundown. Some couples simply want sun, sea and sand – but if you’d prefer a dose of activity, St Lucia has that too. You can expect to find criss-crossing hiking trails in the jungle, treetop zip-lining, and delicious food-tasting tours. To top it off, the standard of luxury accommodation is extremely high in St Lucia. Wake up to ocean views, enjoy delicious dining, and be waited on hand and foot.

Things to do in St Lucia

Discover the Best Beaches

All beaches are public in St Lucia, so you can access all the best places on your honeymoon. You’ll be spoilt for choice. If you want straight-off-a-postcard scenery, head to Anse de Pitons. Nestled between St Lucia’s famous twin Pitons, this sweeping bay looks like a painting. You can sunbathe next to the soaring peaks, and go for a swim in the bath-warm waters. If snorkelling is more your thing, spend a day at Anse Chastanet. This black-sand beach hints at St Lucia’s volcanic past, while the off-shore reef is teeming with tropical fish. You can both hire snorkelling gear, or even book a diving trip. For a relaxing swim and water sports, check out Reduit Beach. With shallow waters and plenty of adrenaline-pumping activities, this popular beach has the best of both worlds.

Get Back to Nature

St Lucia’s main attractions aren’t all on the coastline – some are tucked inland. The Sulphur Springs are a great day out for newlyweds. You can go for a dip in these natural pools, cover your skin in mineral-filled mud, then wash it all off in a deeper thermal pool, further along the river. It’ll leave you feeling refreshed and relaxed. The nearby Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens are also worth a visit. The colourful flowers and exotic plants are lovely, but the highlight is the Diamond Waterfall. Laced with minerals, the water appears to change colour as it tumbles down. In actual fact, the minerals are discolouring the rocks behind the falls, which creates a mesmerising kaleidoscope effect. It’s a great spot for a romantic photo.

Explore the Rainforest

If you’re a pair of adrenaline junkies, the best way to see St Lucia’s rainforest is by zip-line. You can fly through the jungle, zooming past exotic plants, rushing rivers and brightly-coloured birds. Alternatively, hop into an open-air gondola – similar to a cable car – and trundle over the tree canopy for panoramas of the island. Prefer to get active? There are several excellent walking trails in St Lucia, ranging from simple 45-minute strolls to full-day hikes. For an easy walk with standout views, head to Tet Paul Nature Park – you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas of the iconic Pitons. Alternatively, the Millet trail is good for bird-watching. It’s best to go early in the morning to have a hope of seeing the rare St Lucia parrot – keep your eyes peeled.
