11 Day Western USA Highlights

Arrive in San Francisco and transfer independently to your hotel. This first day is yours to enjoy at your leisure, before meeting your Tour Director at your hotel in the evening.

Overnight – 4* San Francisco Marriott Marquis, or similar

This morning, join a half-day city tour which includes Union Square, the Civic Center and Fisherman’s Wharf. From the top of Twin Peaks, you can enjoy the spectacular view and see for yourself why many consider San Francisco the most beautiful city in America. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure in the City by the Bay. Why not take a cable car ride to Fisherman’s Wharf or hop on the ferry to visit to Alcatraz?

Overnight – 4* San Francisco Marriott Marquis, or similar

Join an optional tour to Monterey and Carmel. You'll travel along the Pacific Coast to the Monterey Bay Peninsula, and visit Cannery Row, made famous by the John Steinbeck novel. Your optional package includes admission to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, which showcases some 200 exhibits on marine life and is one of the most respected aquariums in the world. Continue along the famous 17-Mile Drive, admiring the natural scenery and gorgeous homes. You can mooch around the charming community of Carmel, known for its art galleries and shops, before returning to San Francisco.

Join the group for an included all-day adventure to Yosemite National Park. Known for its magnificent waterfalls, granite peaks and remarkable wildlife, Yosemite is one of America’s favourite National Parks. You'll explore the park by coach, but you'll also have time on the valley floor to enjoy the spectacular scenery and munch on an included all-American picnic.

Today, you'll travel through the Mojave Desert on your way to Las Vegas. A late-afternoon arrival in the dazzling 'Entertainment Capital of the World' will give you enough time to start enjoying this fantastic city. Your Tour Director can assist you in arranging anything you want to do, whether it's shopping, watching a show, experiencing the fine-dining, or joining an optional evening tour.

Stop at the iconic Las Vegas Welcome Sign – where you may wish to capture a photo to remember your time in Las Vegas – before continuing on an included daytrip to the Grand Canyon. On the journey, you'll be able to admire the beauty of Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the U.S. formed by the Hoover Dam. At the Grand Canyon, you can take in the views at your leisure. Why not join an optional helicopter trip above the canyon, or walk on the jaw-dropping Skywalk platform?

Overnight – 4* Sahara Hotel, or similar

Today is yours to spend however you choose. Maybe do a little shopping at one of the fine shopping outlets in Las Vegas, or simply lounge by the pool? Or you could join an optional tour. One option is a full-day trip to Zion National Park. This place is known for its majestic canyons, waterfalls and amazing wildlife. Your visit will include a guided walk, as well as an all-American picnic lunch.

Today your journey takes you from Las Vegas through Palm Springs. This is the winter playground for Hollywood royalty, with its lively Downtown area and immaculate golf courses at the base of the rugged San Jacinto Mountains. This city in the desert was once frequented by stars like Frank Sinatra, Jane Russell and Elvis Presley. Today, it's a flourishing desert oases with great shops, restaurants and year-round sunshine. In the late afternoon, you'll reach the vibrant metropolis of Los Angeles.

Overnight – 3* Crowne Plaza LA Harbor, or similar

This morning, you'll enjoy a detailed city tour of Los Angeles, including oh-so-hip Santa Monica, glamorous Hollywood and posh Beverly Hills. You can stop by the “finish line” of historic Route 66, see an iconic Californian lifeguard tower made famous by “Baywatch”, spot celebrities' stars along the Walk of Fame, and take a great photo of the famous Hollywood sign. The afternoon is yours to spend however you wish. Explore more at your own pace, or join an optional excursion to Universal Studios to learn how Hollywood's movies are made.

Overnight – 3* Crowne Plaza LA Harbor, or similar

Today, you can enjoy an optional full-day excursion to San Diego. Travel south through San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente before reaching San Diego, the second-largest city in California. This place enjoys mild weather all year round, thanks to its sunny location on San Diego Bay. You can go on a city tour to see the historic Old Town, the Gaslamp Quarter and the picturesque Seaport Village. For a different view of the city, you could also join an optional cruise on the bay, before returning to Los Angeles in the late-afternoon.

Overnight – 3* Crowne Plaza LA Harbor, or similar

Enjoy a final few hours in Los Angeles, before making your own way to the airport for your return flight.
