Say goodbye to Orlando, as you drive to she small country town of Ocala, which still retains much of its provincial atmosphere. In Silver Springs – which is home of the world's largest collection of crystal-clear springs – you can take an optional glass-bottomed boat trip across the bubbling waters. Then you'll head west to Tallahassee, Florida's tranquil capital with the charm of the Old South.

Day 4

Tallahassee - Apalachicila - Emerald Coast - Pensacola

Pensacola - Mobile - New Orleans

New Orleans

Vicksburg - Memphis

Depart Vicksburg for the home of the blues, Memphis. This city combines the romance of the Old South with the exciting pace of a modern metropolis. Day 11

Gatlinburg - Great Smoky Mountains - Cherokee - Columbia - Charleston

Today's drive will be a very scenic one. Enjoy the views out the window as you meander through the Great Smoky Mountains, famous for the distinctive blue haze which cloaks them. Pass through the ancestral homeland of the Cherokee Indians en route to Columbia, which is considered one of the USA' most beautiful state capitals. You'll arrive in historic Charleston in the afternoon. Get your bearings by taking a leisurely stroll through the Historic District with its pretty churches and unsurpassed antebellum architecture.

Day 12

Charleston - Savannah

Leaving Charleston behind you, it's worth stopping off to visit the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens – one of the oldest plantations in the Deep South. Day 13

Savannah - Jacksonville - St. Augustine
