Boston is a city which combines history and modernity. With impressive architecture, cobbled streets, cultural landmarks and glittering malls, Boston really is a must.
You can spend a day exploring the Freedom Trail, a path which weaves past 16 of Boston’s most historically significant landmarks. Love to shop? Eight blocks of boutiques, designer labels, and high street favourites can be found along Newbury Street. Sports fans can catch a game of basketball at TD Garden or baseball at Fenway Park, before finishing the evening on one of Boston’s famous Irish pubs, like The Burren and The Druid.
Overnight – 3 nights at Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor (or similar)
It’s time to relax after a busy few days in Boston, so collect your rental car and make the short journey to Cape Cod. This beautiful 48-kilometre stretch of Massachusetts' coastline has remained undeveloped since being designated as a Nation Seashore by President John F. Kennedy back in 1961.
Hiking, biking, and horse-riding are all popular activities in the area. Or, if you'd prefer to simply relax, why not swim and sunbathe on one of the six public beaches? However you spend your days, your evenings will be filled with fantastic seafood and local cuisine.
Overnight – 2 nights at Sea Crest Beach Hotel, Falmouth (or similar)
Drive – 75 miles from Boston to Cape Cod
Make the short drive from Cape Cod to New Haven in Connecticut, stopping off en route to see some of Cape Cod’s other sights.
The historic university city of New Haven is located on Connecticut's coast. It's rich with arts, culture, and regional foods, and is home to the world-famous Yale University, which was founded in 1701. Find out all about it when you take an Ivy League Tour. Explore the Chapel Historic District for shopping, museums and galleries, then finish your day with dinner by the harbour.
Overnight – 2 nights in Omni New Haven, CN (or similar)
Drive – 170 miles from Cape Cod to New Haven
Today you'll make the drive to New York. You can drop off your hire car before exploring The City That Never Sleeps. New York has endless things to do, so you’ll find it very easy to while away a three-night stay here.
Whether it's your first time or your tenth, the Big Apple sure has bite. Boasting world-famous landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, an incredible dining scene and five diverse boroughs – Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx. Be sure to go up the Rockefeller Center for incredible views of the city skyline, and walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Catch a musical on Broadway, go shopping on Fifth Avenue, grab a hot dog in Times Square, and pile into a yellow taxi back to your hotel.
Overnight – 3 nights at RIU Plaza Manhattan Times Square (or similar)
Drive – 80 miles from New Haven to New York
As your east coast adventure comes to an end, it's time to make your way to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
