Barbados is a utopia for watersports, as the frothy Atlantic Ocean providing the ideal conditions for lovers of the surf, while keen golfers can tee off on the many Championship courses. Over in St Lucia, meanwhile, volcanic foundations are responsible for bountiful forest, lowland plantations and abundant coral reefs, all of which you can readily explore.

Barbados

With temperatures reaching a glorious 27-30^oC all year round, Barbados is a tropical haven for sun-seekers. As well as sunbathing on palm-lined beaches, you can expect to be charmed by the island’s vibrant culture. This Caribbean gem may be famed for its tranquillity and beautiful all-inclusive resorts, but it’s also home to adrenaline-pumping activities, lively nightclubs and excellent shops. Head into the tropical heart of the island on a wildlife safari, or take a boat trip and be mesmerised by tropical fish. To travel like a local, jump on to one of the colourful Bajan buses and hop across the island. The capital city of Bridgetown is teeming with historical attractions, like the Chamberlain Bridge, and plenty of museums. There’s also a rum distillery, where you can discover how Barbados’ national drink is made – cheers.

St Lucia

Sleepy St Lucia is one of the most popular Caribbean islands, thanks to its romantic beaches, tropical jungles and picturesque towns – not to mention its luxury resorts. This scenic isle is the ultimate place to relax. But, when you want to explore, there’s plenty to discover beyond your hotel. The Pitons are St Lucia’s most famous natural landmark. Appearing to erupt from the sea, these two UNESCO-listed volcanic are perfect for hiking and climbing, or you could even soar above in a helicopter.
