On Samoa’s ‘Big Island’ – Savai’i – Le Lagoto Resort & Spa is perched on a secluded beach, fringed by coconut palms and crystal clear waters. This boutique resort has just 10 bungalows, plus a family house, which creates an idyllic and intimate feel. The journey to get here is also a scenic one. After an hour-long ferry ride from the main island, Upolu, it’s a 45-minute coastal drive from the wharf to the resort, giving you a chance to admire the island. Once at the resort, you can soak up the sun, sip a refreshing cocktail and take in the sensational sunsets, after which the resort is named.
Sit back and unwind at Sunset Spa, as you can indulge in some ‘me time’. The spa offers a range of massages and beauty treatments. You can book in for a deep tissue massage, a hydrating facial or – if you want to experience a local treatment – choose the Vailili package for a full-body coconut and papaya scrub, followed by a relaxing massage. Or opt for the Malolo package, where Samoan oils are used in a stress-relieving massage, followed by a rejuvenating facial.
At the resort’s oceanfront restaurant, Vailili, you can look forward to a delicious daily breakfast and evening meal. There’s a themed buffet on a Thursday night – which also includes a traditional Fia Fia cultural show – and a Polynesian barbecue every Sunday night. You can look forward to fresh, local produce at Le Lagoto Resort & Spa, featured across a menu of traditional and modern Samoan dishes, plus a few international dishes. If you want to try a local tipple, there are a few to choose from. You could a coconut drink called niu, a zesty lemon drink vai tipolo or traditional Samoan coffee.
Serving fresh, local and flavourful dishes, Vailili Restaurant showcases Samoan cuisine. Enjoy a themed buffet and cultural Fia Fia show on Thursdays, and a tasty Polynesian barbecue on Sundays.
This poolside bar is the perfect place to sip a cold Vailima beer or enjoy a nightcap before bed. Or you can drop by during happy hour – between 4pm and 6pm, you can enjoy discounted beer and cocktails.
You’ll find Leilina’s Pizzeria opposite the resort. Serving up the best pizza on Savai’I, this place is a must-visit – and the tasty thin-crust pizzas can be delivered straight to your bungalow.
Looking to have a quiet night in? Order at reception or call from your bungalow to have your dinner delivered to you. Just be aware that there’s an additional charge for room service.
This boutique resort consists of just 10 exclusive bungalows and one family house. There are five bungalows right on the oceanfront, and five more tucked just behind on a picturesque stretch of beach. Each one is traditional in style, but has contemporary features for a comfortable stay. Or larger groups can stay at Jim’s House, which has two bedrooms and sleeps up to six guests.
