If you’re looking to see the Maldives at their natural best, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu offers a glimpse into its unspoilt marine life. The resort is a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve, which means it’s recognised by the international body as a place where people can learn more about sustainability. Guests can learn at daily workshops about how we can preserve some of the world’s most unique natural environments, including the Maldives, or by talking to its resident marine biologist. If you’re looking for hands-on insight, you can head out on reef-cleaning trips, help plant trees across the resort or visit the island’s on-site turtle rescue centre, set up in partnership with the Olive Ridley Project.
Every part of a stay at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu feels sumptuous – from the stylish villas and the delicious dishes served across the restaurants, to the beautiful scenery you’ll spy at every turn. And luxury at this resort doesn’t cost the earth, either. If you’re looking for a great-value resort in the Maldives, this place should be on your list.
Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu demonstrates its clear commitment to protecting its natural environment. Only glass bottles are used across the resort to cut harmful plastic waste, and all seafood served is either pole- or line-caught to stop ‘ghost nets’ harming local marine life. The resort is also a champion for local Maldivian produce. Many of the fruits, vegetables, spices and herbs are grown in the island’s own gardens. And, wherever possible, supplies are sourced from local producers to keep the Maldives’ economy strong.
Dine with the sand between your toes Cornus, which serves up the tastiest flavours from China, India, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia from its beachfront setting.
Set among the island’s tropical greenery, Cowrie is a relaxing all-day dining spot. Enjoy fresh salads and cold plates, as well as hot dishes cooked in the open kitchen.
Sip cold drinks under the thatched roof of this garden bar, or grab a fresh dish any time of day. In the evenings, there’s also a live band.
Located on the island’s sprawling western sands, this bar offers unrestricted views of the clear Indian Ocean. The tropical cocktails have been designed to be enjoyed alongside the golden sunsets.
