Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa is just a 30-minute drive from central Mombasa Island. It’s offers the best of both worlds – you’ll feel nicely tucked away, but you’re close enough to explore the city sights if you fancy. If you take a daytrip there, Fort Jesus – a 16th-century Portuguese fort packed with artefacts – is worth a visit, as are the winding, narrow streets of Old Town. But if you don’t feel like venturing far, Haller Park and its butterfly pavilions just a few minutes’ walk away.
