Giraffe Manor can be found in the Langata area of Nairobi. It’s set across 12 acres of private land on 140 acres of indigenous forest, so it’s a secluded base for an exclusive safari adventure in Kenya. You can stay in either the Manor House or the Garden Manor – both are sophisticated houses steeped in history. Wander through the manicured gardens and courtyards and you’ll get a close encounter with the local herd of Rothschild’s giraffes. If you’re lucky, they might even pop their heads through your room’s open windows looking for a treat or two.
Giraffe Manor was built in 1932, and its design was inspired by Scotland’s stately hunting lodges. It’s the oldest of the Safari Collection’s properties and is home to herds of giraffes who call the surrounding land home. Lots of people say a stay here feels like you’re living the film Out of Africa in real life. And that’s not a coincidence, as one of the manor’s rooms is named after the novel’s author, Karen Blixen.
The Safari Collection is known for hosting unforgettable safari trips across Kenya and the continent. During a stay at Giraffe Manor, you can get involved in all kinds of wild adventures. Try a Photography Safari and learn more about local Samburu culture with a professional guide. If you’re visiting with family, go on a Lion King Adventure through the areas that inspired the Disney film. Or you could simply relax at the manor and have breakfast with the giraffes or wander the lawns to visit the Giraffe Centre.
Begin the day with a ‘giraffe’ tray at breakfast delivered directly to your door, piled high with blueberry pancakes and local breakfast treats.
After your morning safari, return to Giraffe Manor and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in the gardens. You can tuck into fresh scones, sweet cakes and your favourite type of tea.
Fancy a romantic meal one evening? When the sun sets, stroll over to Orchid House and enjoy a private candlelit dinner.
Rooms are split across the Manor House and the Garden Manor. Both houses are covered with climbing ivy, while inside is cosy and inviting. If you choose to stay the Manor House, your room will be styled with the property’s original Thirties decor in mind. Or opt for a Garden Manor room, which features reclaimed materials from the early 19th century when the main house was built.
