An outstanding resort on the west coast of Barbados, Sandy Lane Hotel is all about luxury and tranquillity. With plush rooms, endless activities and exquisite dining options, it’s hardly surprising that this five-star resort has a long list of accolades from the likes of Condé Nast and TripAdvisor. In 2019, Forbes Travel Guide crowned Sandy Lane Hotel their Five Star Award Winner, and also named it the ‘World’s Most Luxurious Hotel’ the previous year.
If you’re a keen golfer, there’s nowhere better to stay than Sandy Lane Hotel. This place has three immaculate golf courses. You can play on the Old Nine, the Country Club and the famous Green Monkey, which was designed by Tom Fazio and is exclusive to hotel guests. And then there’s the spa. Descend a marble staircase and you’ll find 11 luxurious treatment suites – each complete with its own pool or garden – where you can unwind with a facial, massage or body treatment. You’ll find it hard to leave this tranquil retreat, which has been voted the best hotel spa in the Caribbean by Travel + Leisure magazine.
When you stay at Sandy Lane Hotel, you can drink and dine in 10 fabulous restaurants and bars. Book a table for two at romantic L’Acajou, where you can look forward to fresh seafood – think lobster, king crab and sea bass – and Wagyu beef. Or head to Bajan Blue for stone-baked pizza, flame-grilled meats and marinated mussels. Don’t miss their elaborate Sunday brunch, either, which features a plethora of meats, a seafood bar and a mountain of desserts. Fancy a bite after 18 holes? Take a seat at The Country Club Restaurant and admire the green fairways and the blue sea beyond.
This all-day dining restaurant serves up Asian, Caribbean and European cuisine. You can expect a diverse menu, as well as afternoon tea, themed buffet nights and a decadent Sunday brunch.
Right by the beach, romantic L’Acajou has a delicious European menu, featuring French specialities and Mediterranean dishes. Come here for dinner and listen to the waves lapping the sands.
After a round of golf, head to the Country Club for delicious food and cocktails, along with panoramic views over the Green Monkey course and the Caribbean Sea.
Next to Sandy Lane Hotel’s huge pool, Spa Café is the perfect place for a light bite. The casual daytime menu features sandwiches, salads, sushi and soup.
Swim up to the Pool Bar, take a submerged seat, and order a crushed-ice cocktail or a cold beer. Or, if you’re peckish, why not take a sandwich or salad back to your sun lounger?
Whether you fancy pre-dinner canapés and cocktails, or a cosy cognac at the end of the night, this charming bar fits the bill. The Monkey Bar stays open until 2:30am.
Level with the beach, Bajan Blue Bar is a sophisticated spot for evening drinks. Take your pick from a collection of cocktails, or ask the mixologists to rustle up your favourite.
Serving handcrafted cocktails, tasty hors d’oeuvres and a long list of fine wines, this beautiful bar is ideal for pre-dinner drinks.
This place does exactly what it says on the tin. When you fancy a tea, coffee or ice-cream, this gourmet café is the place to come – you’ll find it tucked between Bajan Blue and the Beach Bar.
Friendly and laidback, the Beach Bar at Sandy Lane Hotel serves up a range of drinks all day long. Cool down in the sun with a refreshing beer, a fruity cocktail or your favourite tipple.
