This easy-peasy itinerary is the ideal blend of city and beach. You'll touchdown in the beating heart of Thailand, Bangkok, then make your way to the balmy beaches of Pattaya.
Whilst in the vibrant capital city of Bangkok, you can explore the historical Grand Palace, snack on street food in Chinatown, and sip cocktails at a swanky rooftop bar. After a few days, it' time to hit the beach in Pattaya. Here, you'll find watersports aplenty, as well as a plethora of restaurants serving some of the freshest seafood in the country. And, if you're looking for a lively night out, you won’t be disappointed. As the evening draws in, the neon signs light up inviting bars where you can dance the night away.
Kick off your trip in style in Thailand’s funky capital. This dynamic city has surprises at every turn, including street food markets, lively nightlife, and a variety of temples and historical landmarks. One of the most-visited attractions is The Grand Palace – a complex dating back to 1782, filled with ornate temples and statues.
As you walk around Bangkok, you’ll be hit with aromatic scents from sizzling street stalls. Visit Chinatown or Bangkok Old Town, and work your way through the maze of markets and authentic restaurants, tucked down narrow side streets. For a more chilled evening, head up to Sky Beach. The Standard Hotel Bangkok’s rooftop bar is the city's highest al fresco bar, and boasts unbelievable views over the sparkling skyline. The cocktails are pretty special, too.
Journey 90 miles southeast of Bangkok, and you’ll reach Pattaya. This coastal city is known for its pulsating nightlife and neon-lit bars – but the streets are peppered with ancient temples and cultural sites, too. Another big draw is Pattaya Beach. This two-miles sandy stretch is lined with restaurants and bars, creating a buzzing atmosphere both day and night. Taking the kids? Spend some time at the chilled-out Jomtien Beach, just a 10-minutes drive from the city centre.
Make sure you also visit The Sanctuary of Truth. This temple-museum hybrid is built entirely out of wood, an architectural feat that reaches 100 metres at its tallest point. And it's impossible to leave Pattaya without sampling its wonderful seafood. Due to the city's coastal location, the daily catches here are some of the tastiest and cheapest in Thailand. Enjoy!
