The Best Water Parks in Dubai

by Travelbag on 04 March 2015, 15:03PM

Situated on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, Dubai is a tourist hotspot. With year-round sunshine, beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels, teeming shopping malls, ancient souks and gorgeous desert on its doorstep it is easy to see why people are drawn here.

With temperature highs of well above 40°C in many months, a lot of time and money has been put into making sure the visitors of Dubai are comfortable. Air conditioning is a staple in the city and provides timely relief from the scorching sun. Further to this all hotels have swimming pools for their guests to cool off in. Further still are the wet and wild water parks filled with slides, tubes and fun for all the family.

There is no better way to cool off and relax than to visit some of the best water parks in the world. The irony of being surrounded by water on the edge of a desert will be forgotten as soon as you get on your trunks and dive in, enjoying the best water parks that Dubai has to offer.

Aquaventure Waterpark

Aquaventure Waterpark can be found at the beautiful Atlantis the Palm hotel.  In the Tower of Neptune you can take The Leap of Faith in which you will fall nine stories in around a second on a vertical slide which is sure to get the adrenaline pumping. Or you can try your luck at Shark Attack! in which the dark tunnels of the tower emerge into a shark-filled lagoon. Then you can ride the world’s largest waterslide tube in the Tower of Poseidon which sees six-person rafts thrown down a course that twists and turns with glee. A more sedate day can be had on the winding lazy river which will take you to the tranquil private beach for some much needed relaxation. With 17 hectares of excitement to explore this is truly one of the best water parks out there. And remember you can have unlimited access during a stay at the Atlantis.

Wild Wadi Waterpark

Wild Wadi Waterpark is themed around Arabic folklore and has 30 fantastic rides to be conquered by the fearless visitor. The highlights include the terrifying Jumeirah Sceirah in which guests are told to wait in a capsule which will suddenly open, sending them cascading down to the bottom at 80 km/h. The series of Master Blaster slides defy gravity with high-powered water jets which create thrilling water rollercoasters. And there is plenty of space for the children to have their own adventure in Juha’s Dhow ad Lagoon which provides an interactive family play structure filled with over 100 water activities.

Dreamland Aqua Park

Just outside the city lies Dreamland Aqua Park. This was the first water park in the region. It is filled with a multitude of exciting rides such as Twisting Dragons which twist and turn to create a feeling of watery chaos. The Kamikaze provides a heart pumping thrill ride that is over in seconds but remembered for a long time. Then it is over to the Black Hole to be immersed in total darkness so that you cannot possibly know when you will ultimately take the final plunge.

Iceland Waterpark

Iceland Waterpark is said to be situated on an iceberg cut adrift from the Arctic, with the penguins setting up their new home in Dubai! It contains a wide range of thrilling rides and the magnificent Penguin Falls which are home to the world’s largest manmade waterfall. Mount a daring escape through the ominously named Dark Rapids or be thrown around in an Arctic Hurricane on Mount Boomerango. Race with friends and family at the Ice Berg Rally or brave the smashing waves of Coral Isle.

Yas Waterworld

We’re leaving Dubai to visit the neighbouring Emirate of Abu Dhabi for this last waterpark, but it is well worth the trip. Falcon’s Falaj will take up to 6 people on an out of control ride filled with rapids, drops, twists and sharp turns. The climb to the Jebel Drop will give you a fantastic view of the park before it all blurs around you as you plummet back to Earth. You can even learn to surf at Rush Rider where an endless sheet wave brings endless fun.
