Diverse and delicious!

Western Australia’s food and drink scene is a vibrant and diverse culinary landscape that reflects the state’s vast geographical diversity and cultural influences. With its sprawling coastline, fertile valleys, and golden outback, Western Australia offers an array of fresh and unique ingredients that contribute to its distinctive gastronomy.

Perth, Western Australia's capital, offers a bustling food scene with diverse culinary options. You can explore international cuisines, from Asian fusion to Mediterranean delights, and enjoy the thriving café culture. Additionally, food markets like the Perth Farmers Market showcase locally grown produce. Seafood is a highlight of the region, with a bounty of fish, prawns, and crayfish caught off the coast. Fremantle, in particular, is known for its seafood markets and fish and chip shops. In Perth, and throughout the state, Indigenous Australian ingredients like kangaroo, emu, and bush herbs are increasingly incorporated into modern cuisine, providing a unique fusion of flavours.

The Swan Valley, just 25 minutes from Perth, is Western Australia’s oldest wine region, renowned for its boutique wineries producing exceptional wines, particularly Shiraz and Chenin Blanc. It's also the only Australian wine region that you can cruise to from a capital city! The Margaret River region, further south, is another wine mecca, celebrated for its world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay plus its stunning coastal landscapes. Not a wine fan? Craft beer enthusiasts will find a burgeoning craft beer scene in Perth and throughout the state, with microbreweries and brewpubs crafting innovative and delicious beers.

One thing is for sure, you won't go hungry (or thirsty) on a holiday to Western Australia! With its abundant seafood, fine wines and indigenous ingredients you can can expect a culinary journey.

With so many great spots in Western Australia to pick from, if you need help finding the perfectly-balanced itinerary - suitable for food and wine aficionados or novices - simply give our Travel Specialists a call.
