The mokoro is a traditional canoe-like boat used in the Okavango Delta to move through the waterways and are a popular way to safari by boat. Holding only one or two passengers mokoros glide through the water with ease. The boat-man stands at the back moving the mokoro through the water with great speed and skill, usually acquired over a lifetime on the water. Popular with photographers, a safari on the water offers a peaceful alternative to travelling overland in a motorised vehicle, and an opportunity to capture an amazing variety of birdlife.
