Now used to humans, so long as their are no sudden movements, these meercats are happy to climb all over you to gain a better sight of their surroundings. Holding only one or two passengers mokoros glide through the water with ease. The boat-man stands at the back moving the mokoro through the water with great speed and skill, usually acquired over a lifetime on the water. Popular with photographers, a safari on the water offers a peaceful alternative to travelling overland in a motorised vehicle, and an opportunity to capture an amazing variety of birdlife.
