0203 944 2201A holiday on the move is the best way to explore an area. When off the beaten track, we find those hidden gems we all love. In this week's Escape Edition, we will showcase some of our favourites - from legendary rail journeys and epic waterfalls to one of the world's most iconic road trips. Holidays on the move? They're going places.
Next, it’s time to hit the Great Ocean Road. Check out Bells Beach, where major international surf competitions are held, and stop at Kennett River, where you’re almost guaranteed to see a wild koala. Be sure to get your camera ready for the scenic Twelve Apostles and continue past other landmarks, including London Bridge and the Bay of Islands, before reaching the fishing town of Port Fairy. After an early start, head for the Grampians National Park and onto Halls Gap, another scenic drive. Cross the border into South Australia and wind your way through the vineyards of Barossa Valley before reaching Adelaide.
Next, it’s time to board the incredible Rocky Mountaineer train. You can sit back, relax, and gaze at the breathtaking scenery – and you might even spot a bear or two along the way. Enjoy a night’s stop in Kamloops and get a taste for this remote town. The train has no accommodation, so you’ll be transferred to a downtown hotel. Back on the train the next morning, you travel to Jasper and then drive to Banff National Park, where you can admire stunning lakes, dramatic mountains, and quaint towns.
For something extraordinary, why not journey to Victoria Falls by Rovos Rail? Or travel along the Caprivi Strip in Namibia into Botswana for a real wilderness experience? If you want to add a beach stay to your Botswana trip, Mozambique is the perfect choice.
