Singapore, Darwin & The Ghan Expedition

You’ll see old and new side-by-side on your trip to Singapore, from vibrant markets and tranquil temples, to towering skyscrapers and glittering malls. Touch down in Darwin, and make your way to your hotel. Spend the next few days at leisure exploring all that Darwin has to offer, or simply soaking up the sunshine. While you’re here, why not pay a visit to the Royal Flying Doctors facility? Afterwards, you can cool off in the Wave and Swimming Lagoon on Darwin’s waterfront, or admire the incredible street art which has popped up all over the city. Alternatively, if you’re feeling daring, you could try a jet-ski tour of Darwin Harbour and the nearby mangroves.

Hop on board The Ghan railway in Darwin where you can relax in your cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the Outback Explorer Lounge. Enjoy a delicious lunch ahead of your Off Train Experience in Katherine - a cruise down the incredible Nitmiluk Gorge.

Arrive into Alice Springs after breakfast, where a day of fascinating Off Train Experiences awaits. As evening falls enjoy a spectacular barbeque dinner under then stars at the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station.

After a morning stop at Manguri, next up is the weird and wonderful opal mining township of Coober Pedy, where more than half of the residents live underground. Here, you’ll enjoy a day of discovery and lunch in the most unique of locations: underground. Dinner is served back on the train, where you can enjoy a nightcap as your journey continues.

Wake up and witness a dramatic change in landscape as the rich ochre tones of the outback make way for the green fields of South Australia. Enjoy a leisurely brunch as you pass through the majestic Flinders Ranges before your arrival into Adelaide, having completed one of the world’s great rail journeys.
