Overview

Explore South Australia on this five night road trip from vines to mountains. Departing from Adelaide this trip takes you to the heart of the wine country, in rural Barossa Valley. This stunning region offers exquisite dining and delicious wine tasting in beautifully scenic surrounds. Relax in your fully equipped cottage and unwind away from the city.

With three nights at Flinders Ranges you will overnight in a certified eco-villa located at Rawnsley Park Station, a working sheep station and luxury getaway. Learn about the history of the ranges, enjoy a sundowner on your deck and explore the flora and fauna of the area with a local guide. With a whole host of exciting activities available you will feel truly immersed in this outback wilderness.

This luxury self-drive adventure ticks all the boxes for both a relaxing and adventurous getaway. Ending in Adelaide this trip is perfect as an add-on to a journey on the Ghan or as a combination with other Australia highlights such as the Red Centre.

Days 1-3

Adelaide to Barossa Valley

Departing Adelaide you will head north today to the Barossa Valley. Known primarily for its rolling winelands, delicious produce and excellent wines, the Barossa also offers a whole host of outdoor activities. Cycling and walking trails offer a chance to explore the beautiful surroundings and with boutique shops and local coffee shops in abundance you can shop till you drop or simply sit and watch the world go by.

You will spend two nights on the Barossa Shiraz Estate, surrounded by vines and views across the valley. With only six luxurious cottages this estate offers exclusivity, as well as fully equipped spaces perfect for couples or families wishing to explore the area. Enjoy a delicious dinner in one of the many nearby restaurants or pre-order a gourmet platter to enjoy in your cosy cottage.

Days 3 - 5

Barossa Valley to Flinders Ranges

Its time to leave the Barossa Valley behind now and make the four hour journey to Rawnsley Park Station, located in the heart of the Flinders Ranges close to Wilpena Pound. Arrive in time for a sundowner on the deck of your eco-certified luxury eco-villa before dining at the Woolshed Restaurant on site and star gazing from your bed via a retractable sky-light in your villa.

Start your day with fresh breakfast provisions delivered to your villa before taking part in one of the many activities available from the station. Take a 4WD tour of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park with an experienced guide, looking out for the rare yellow-footed rock wallabies. Alternatively book a scenic flight or guided walk, spotting kangaroos and rare birds.

For the ultimate outback tour why not indulge in a heli-camping experience and spend the night sleeping in a swag under the stars. Enjoy the solitude of the open outback, cooking food over a campfire and taking walks to local sites and rock formations before sleeping under a star-filled sky.

Day 6

Flinders Ranges to Adelaide

Join the popular three hour breakfast walk this morning, heading to the base of Rawnsley Bluff. Enjoy a cooked breakfast in the bush before taking a final dip in the pool.

Head to nearby Hawker for a lunch stop before continuing your journey back to Adelaide.
