Hotel Overview

A historic icon

El Tovar Hotel Grand Canyon National Park is steeped in rich history, having been crafted from the materials that make this area so special. Designed by chief architect Charles Whittlesey to feel like a Swiss chalet, this beautiful hotel has since evolved to celebrate the native communities that first lived in the Grand Canyon. El Tovar was built on the rim of the Grand Canyon in 1905, and earned prestigious National Historic Landmark status back in 1987. It’s now a world-class hotel, having welcomed famous faces such as Sir Paul McCartney, US Presidents Roosevelt and Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey.

Phone signal and internet connections can be patchy here – but that’s all part of the appeal of this desert escape. It's the perfect place to truly unplug from the bustle of day-to-day life and, instead, spend time soaking up the scenery and reconnecting with your loved ones.
