Zion Outfitter: Cold Weather Narrows Package

An unforgettable experience in the Narrows begins with appropriate equipment!
The Narrows is one of the most iconic features of Zion National Park. This majestic slot canyon is the section of the Virgin River upstream from the main canyon. With walls soaring thousands of feet high and only thirty feet apart in some portions, the canyon provides a completely unique adventure for hikers. Experiencing the Narrows requires hikers to wade in the river as it meanders through the deep corridor of Navajo sandstone, and Zion Outfitters rents the gear you'll need to comfortably navigate the wet, uneven terrain in the Narrows year-round. By taking the appropriate gear you'll ensure your experience in the Narrows is safe and enjoyable.

Recommended when temperatures are cool, the cold weather package includes dry pants, canyoneering boots, neoprene socks and a wooden hiking stick. Dry pants come up to the waist and have a tight rubber gasket in the ankle that keeps all water out. Dry pants allow hikers to wear regular hiking clothes and insulating layers underneath. Feet will get wet but will be kept warm by the neoprene socks which insulate and cause much fewer blisters than a regular wet sock, while canyoneering boots provide unmatched grip on wet and dry rock and necessary ankle support. The wooden hiking stick is ideal for balance and stability and holds up much better than regular trekking poles in the Narrows.

All equipment must be picked up by 10am the morning of your hike or the evening prior from 4pm-7pm. Equipment must be returned by 7pm
