A European River Cruise will transport you to some of the best spots in the world. Be inspired by fascinating history, art, and culture, and admire stunning landscapes that you wouldn't be able to see on a sea cruise. Enjoy some of the finest wines and delight in locally inspired menus depending on where you are cruising. Sail the blue Danube River through Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. Take a trip along the romantic Rhine and Moselle Rivers through the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. Or discover the many rivers in France including the Seine, Rhone, and the Dordogne, or soak up the sights in Portugal along the Douro. With so many options in Europe alone you'll be spoilt for choice. Christmas is a popular time to take a river cruise and AmaWaterways also offer a selection of Christmas Market river cruises which operate in November and December.
Asia and Africa are each large destinations but they both have wonderful river cruises just waiting to be explored. The Mekong River flows from the Tibetan plateaus of China's Yunnan province and through the rainforests, plains, and rice fields of Southeast Asia. There is nothing quite like it as the temples, trade routes and fishing villages are largely untouched making them magical places to visit. The stretch of river that winds through Vietnam and Cambodia offers spectacular sights and stops. Over in Africa, the River Nile flows through the Northeastern County of Egypt and 10 other African countries including Uganda and Ethiopia. The AmaWaterways river cruise takes guests on a journey through the lower Egyptian portion of the river, from Luxor to Aswan and back. Over 7 days you will get to experience some amazing sites and shore excursions that can really only be seen from the river. Elsewhere in Africa you can enjoy safaris & wildlife cruises, sail down the Chobe River on the Zambezi Queen and marvel at the unique sights and wildlife.
South America is often a lesser explored continent but in 2024 AmaWaterways will be making Colombia accessible from the beautiful Magdalena River. Flowing through the western half of the country, from the Colombian Andes to the Caribbean Sea near Barranquilla in the north of Columbia. The AmaMagdalena and AmaMelodia ships will take guests from Cartagena and Barranquilla or visa versa on 7-day cruises. You will get to enjoy exquisite, locally sourced cuisine inspired by the Colombian Caribbean coast and explore Colombia’s rich history, traditions, and local delicacies during shore excursions. Highlights include an exclusive carnival experience in Barranquilla, scenic cruising through the La Mojana Region, and stops in Mompox and Magangue. Colombia is named the 'Land of a Thousand Rhythms' and what better way to explore part of this beautiful country than by river.
