The sky’s the limit with Singapore Airlines

Get more inspiration

Ask any frequent flyer, and they’ll tell you Singapore Airlines is one of the best.

In 2023, it was named World’s Best Airline by Skytrax for the fifth time. It’s been in the top three every year since 2007. Singapore Changi Airport, the airline’s hub, has also been awarded World’s Best Airport for a record-breaking 12th time. It’s been in the top three every year since 2000. These are simply the statistics. What really makes passengers return to Singapore Airlines (SIA), flight after flight, are the details.

Here are just some of the reasons SIA is consistently named the World’s Best Airline.

Great Timing

Inconvenience is an inevitability in global travel, right? Not with Singapore Airlines. Every SIA flight from London Gatwick, London Heathrow, or Manchester leaves just after breakfast or shortly before bed. That means no rushing to the airport in the middle of the night and no need to take the day off for afternoon departures. Returning from Singapore isn’t too different. The first UK-bound flight is at 9:00am, and the last is at 2:10am. Even this later flight is no problem from the award-winning Changi Airport, with an 11:00pm airport arrival and 24 hours of entertainment, a choice of airport lounges, shower rooms and airport hotels to keep you comfy and relaxed from door to door.

Worldwide Service

Wherever you go, you can fly there with Singapore Airlines. Getting Down Under is easy with direct services from Singapore to Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, plus Auckland and Christchurch in New Zealand. Over 20 destinations across Southeast Asia receive Singapore Airlines flights, as do many others in China, Japan, and South Korea. SIA planes land daily in LA, San Francisco, and New York and four times a week in Seattle. Singapore Airlines also has a full network across Europe, the Middle East, India, Africa, and the Indian Ocean. In short, pretty much everywhere.

And this is just the flights with the famous golden bird on the tail fin. Once you add seamless connections with Singapore Airlines' low-cost sister airlines Scoot and more than 30 codeshare partnerships, few places on Earth remain outside Singapore Airlines’ reach. Speaking of the planet, flying around the world is no problem for Singapore Airlines customers thanks to a relationship with Star Alliance, the largest airline group in travel.

Best Connections

Thanks to smart planning, most Singapore Airlines flights connect in a few hours or less. If that’s not the case for you, don’t worry; there’s no better airport for a long connection than Singapore’s award-winning hub. More like a luxury mall than an airport, Changi is filled with sculptures, gardens, and water features. It has an outdoor swimming pool complete with a Jacuzzi, sun loungers and a bar. It has a live music venue, mazes, and a treetop canopy net walk. It has a digital experience studio, a climbing wall, and an augmented-reality dinosaur quest for kids and big kids alike.

If that’s not enough, Changi doesn’t only have lounges; it has a hotel right inside the terminal that’s bookable for the exact number of hours needed to rest between flights. If you’re connecting for 5.5 hours or more, you can join a choice of free tours to Singapore itself while your luggage is transferred between planes. With Singapore Airlines, a quick connection is great, but a longer one can be even better.

Premium Comfort

A seat pitch of at least 32 inches, adjustable padded headrests, and an in-flight menu available eight days in advance means flying Economy Class with Singapore Airlines isn’t exactly roughing it. Still, things get a lot more comfortable when you choose Premium Economy. More legroom, wider seats, footrests, and an intimate cabin keep you content for even the longest flight. Singapore Airlines Premium Economy passengers also receive priority treatment from check-in to landing, letting you avoid the rush and leave stress at the airport door. Whichever cabin you choose, all travellers with SIA can chat, surf, and keep up to date by staying connected in the air with free Wi-Fi after joining the KrisFlyer rewards programme.

Best Business

Freshly opened Champagne, 40kg baggage allowance, and a personalised onboard service are great reasons to book Business Class with Singapore Airlines. Arriving at your destination completely rested and relaxed is the best of all. Not all airlines offer fully flat beds, but every Singapore Airlines long-haul flight does. In fact, if you book a pair of centre aisle seats on the A380, which departs twice daily from London, you can even share your own fully flat double bed. Add pre-selected meals, drinks, snacks, and complimentary Wi-Fi for the whole flight, and you might want to stay aboard and go around again.

Ultimate Luxury

When you choose the best seats on a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 or Airbus A380, you might not feel like you’re flying at all. First Class on the 777 offers a cocoon-like private space with complete control over everything from what you eat to when and even how you prefer the lighting. On the A380, single and double Suites raise the bar even higher with executive seats beside lie-flat beds in a luxurious world of your own. The Suite cabin also has extra spacious bathrooms, perfect for a quiet moment to refresh before landing. Of course, you get 50kg baggage and priority service; Poltrona Frau designs your leather recliner, your noise-cancelling headphones are Bang & Olufsen, your bone china tableware is Wedgwood, and your toiletries are Lalique. You wouldn’t expect anything less.

Fine Dining

All food served on Singapore Airlines has been through a rigorous selection and creation process led by a specially handpicked International Culinary Panel. In 2024, the award-winning chefs planning your in-flight meals include the three Michelin star French grandmaster Georges Blanc, the Masterchef Australia judge Matthew Moran, and the Asian celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor. Every dish is carefully designed to taste as delicious at 30,000 feet as you’d expect in a fine dining restaurant on land.

You’ll be glad to know wine isn’t overlooked. World-renowned sommeliers Jeannie Cho Lee, Michael Hill Smith, and Britain’s own Oz Clarke taste over 1,000 wines and Champagnes a year, all at altitude, to ensure every drop is perfect for your flight. What’s more, passengers flying in Premium Economy, Business Class, First Class, or a Suite can select specific dishes and paired wines from a pre-flight menu using the innovative Singapore Airlines Book the Cook service.

Spectacular Service

It’s clear Singapore Airlines takes every part of your experience seriously, from providing the most convenient routes and timings to offering the most comfortable facilities, both in the air and on the ground. London Gatwick to Sydney in just 21 hours and 40 minutes, with flat beds all the way and meals created by Michelin-star chefs and international sommeliers, is no bad way to travel. But, without the dedicated staff and immaculate service to back it up, it would all mean nothing.

Thankfully, Singapore Airlines flight crew are trained for four months, twice as long as the industry average. By the time they step on board, every member is an expert in delivering perfect hospitality and attentive service for both adults and children. The Singapore Airlines philosophy is to anticipate your needs before you ask. Think of it not as a plane but as a five-star hotel in the air.
