Top 10 record-breaking attractions in Dubai

Get more inspiration

There’s nowhere quite like Dubai.

Dubai has breathtaking architecture, glorious beaches, majestic shopping malls, and upmarket hotels. But did you know this remarkable city also holds many world records? And we mean many, from the world’s fastest rollercoaster to the world’s longest urban zip line. Let’s take a look at some of Dubai’s most iconic attractions.

Burj Khalifa

Of course, we had to start with the world’s tallest building: at over 828 metres high and with 160 storeys - it’s not surprising this jaw-dropping skyscraper managed to bag a world record, or six - in fact. Not only is it the tallest free-standing structure in the world, but it also has the highest number of storeys, the highest outdoor observation deck, the highest restaurant and lounge, and the tallest service elevator in the world. The building was named Burj Khalifa in honour of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and a staggering 17 million people marvel at this impressive monument every year!

Deep Dive Dubai

Located in Dubai’s Nad Al Sheba neighbourhood is the world’s deepest swimming pool - the aptly named Deep Dive Dubai. The depth is an incredible 196.9 feet, and it’s said to hold 14 million litres of water! To put that into perspective, it’s around the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools. Described as ‘the ultimate deep-diving experience’, many visit this attraction on their holidays to Dubai. It’s designed to resemble a sunken city - filled with excitement and adventure.

Formula Rossa

A ride on the world’s fastest rollercoaster isn’t for the fainthearted. Located in the popular theme park - Ferrari World - you can expect to experience an incredible speed of 240 kilometres per hour. Prepare to feel the surge in the pit of your stomach! Of course, this isn’t your average rollercoaster, so you must wear protective glasses. And if you’re interested in the specifics, this epic ride can reach up to 150 miles per hour in just 4.9 seconds, and the highest point reaches an astonishing 170 feet!

Al Qudra

Next up, we’ve got the world’s longest continuous cycle path. And how long is it, you ask? A whopping 86 kilometres! That’s a lot of cycling. But aside from being the longest path, it’s designed with safety in mind. It’s also incredibly scenic, guiding cyclists across Dubai’s pretty sand dunes and twinkling lakes. The entire track spans the area of Al Qudra, which covers 188 square kilometres. And, of course, it isn’t just a cycle track; there are restaurants, toilets and picnic areas, too.

The Frame

This extraordinary monument holds the record for the world’s largest frame. At a height of 150.24 metres, it’s possible to reach the top of the structure via a panoramic elevator, which offers an insight into the city’s past, present and future. You can walk along the glass floor that connects the two towers... if you dare. This once-in-a-lifetime experience is not to be missed on your Dubai holiday. Curious about the design? It was designed to show the impressive views of both old and new Dubai, showcasing how the city has transformed from a fishing village to an architectural phenomenon.

IMG Park

In Dubai, the world’s largest indoor amusement park awaits. IMG Park is located on Yas Island and was built with four zones. There are plenty of adrenaline-pumping rides, and many are based on popular cartoon characters. How large must an indoor theme park be to gain a world record, you ask? Well, it covers an area larger than 28 football fields! Because it’s so huge, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes on your visit. It’s not all thrilling rides, though, as there are live shows and opportunities to meet legendary characters such as Iron Man. Filled with excitement and attractions, you’ll never want to leave!

The Xline

The world’s longest urban zip line is also in Dubai, and it’s the ultimate thrill! The 16-degree zip line zooms through the skyscrapers and over the marina, providing an incredible experience. It measures around one kilometre in length and reaches up to 170 metres in height. With breathtaking views below and around you, our only advice is to keep your eyes open!

Miracle Garden

Do you love brightly-coloured blooms, luscious greenery and picturesque plants? Then take a trip to the world’s biggest flower garden. Occupying over 72,000 square metres, this haven for plant life is seemingly never-ending! It’s home to over 50 million flowers and 250 million plants. You can look around, take pictures and walk through the unique, extravagant displays! A truly awe-inspiring experience. The Dubai Miracle Garden has won three world records: the world’s largest floral installation, the tallest topiary and the biggest topiary art. While temporarily closed for the summer months, the Miracle Garden opens once again in October.

Fountain Displays

No Dubai holiday would be complete without visiting the majestic Dubai fountain. Located on the iconic Burj Khalifa Lake, the water can shoot as high as 500 feet. To put that into perspective, that’s as high as a 50-storey building! The fountains certainly put on a show - perfectly choreographed to music. Although spectacular, this display no longer holds the record for the largest dancing fountain show in the world. Located between Atlantis The Palm and The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah, The Palm Fountain has taken over the record, reaching a staggering 105 metres!

AquaFun

A world record breaker that the kids will love... what could we be talking about? The world’s largest inflatable waterpark, of course! Based in the waters at JBR beach, this gigantic obstacle course is open all year round and perfect for Dubai family holidays. You may not notice unless looking from above, but it spells out ‘iLoveEXPO2020Dubai’. If you want to take on the challenge, be warned, as it spans a gigantic 77 metres! With bouncy castles, slides, and walls to climb - you’re guaranteed a fun-filled, unforgettable day out.
