Pink holidays around the world

Get more inspiration

Here at Travelbag, we love pink as much as the main girl herself

But did you know there are heaps of florescent, fuchsia-coloured destinations and attractions around the world? If you’re looking for a Barbie-esque break or just fancy discovering somewhere unusually pink, read on!

Lake Hillier, Western Australia

Bodies of water are usually blue in appearance and on maps. But from time to time, nature likes to surprise us. Prepare to be amazed by this hot pink lake located on the edge of Middle Island, Western Australia. But why does it have a unique bubble-gum hue? Well, it was recently discovered that a combination of algae, halobacteria, and other microbes causes it, not to mention this body of water is extremely salty - not quite as glamorous, but still pretty beautiful!

Although only 600 metres in length, this vivid beauty is home to many different fish species. And with the crystal-blue ocean, enchanting eucalyptus, and emerald trees surrounding it, this spot is a picturesque paradise for those wanting a rose-coloured holiday.

Jaipur: The Pink City, India

The pinkest of all pink holidays - Jaipur, India, is a fluorescent city, to say the least. It all started in 1876 when Maharaja Ram Singh ordered most of the buildings here be painted pink - in preparation for Queen Victoria’s arrival and because pink was considered the ‘colour of hospitality’.

Jaipur isn’t only famous for its candyfloss shade, though, as it also boasts a magnificent history. You’ll immediately notice the fabulous forts and palaces where different rulers once lived! The city is also renowned for its bustling bazaars, temples, and wildlife sanctuaries.

Crane Beach, Barbados

Stunning Crane Beach in beautiful Barbados is famed for its light pink sand, take a trip to the southern coast, in the parish of St. Philip, and you’ll find a blossom-coloured sweep. Backed by rock formations and luscious greenery, this is the perfect place to soak up the sun’s rays and enjoy an array of nearby amenities.

Mostly, people visit this pink paradise on their Barbados holiday to relax and unwind. And while it’s certainly possible to swim here, the waters can become quite choppy, so they are more suited to confident swimmers.

Takinoue Park, Japan

These endless fields are considered one of the most beautiful walking spots - a must-see on your Japan holiday. You’ll be in awe of the magical magenta shade here. The colour comes from nothing other than shibazakura - a large span of beautiful pink and purple flowers! Many choose to stroll through the blooms, while others enjoy the spectacular views from above with a thrilling helicopter ride. It’s important to remember these flowers are only out for around a month, and they are at their brightest between May and June. Great for a day trip, if you start to feel hungry during your visit, don’t worry; there are opportunities to tuck into traditional snacks or stop for a break and buy a souvenir.

Flamingo Beach, Aruba

This Instagram-worthy beach is located on the small, private Renaissance Island. And although the social snaps make it seem like there are Flamingos everywhere, this isn’t the case, as the island is home to a dense mangrove where they live. You’ll need to purchase a day pass to Renaissance Island to see the creatures in all their glory. And if you’re looking to avoid the crowds, we recommend visiting in the early morning. Not only will it be nice and quiet, but you’ll be one of the first to feed them - meaning they’ll be super grateful and more likely to play!

Riomaggiore in Cinque Terre, Italy

If you’re planning your pink holidays, this is a pretty village with a difference - Riomaggiore is a pastel-coloured paradise. Plentiful pink buildings tower high on the hills, rugged vineyards serve delicious wine, and twinkling waters create a dream-like experience. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it’s also the perfect holiday destination.

As with many Italy holidays, there’s a handful of glorious places to eat, perfectly-placed hotels offering an array of amenities, and many scenic hiking trails to enjoy. How about heading up to the castle, Castello Di Riomaggiore, where spectacular views await? This exquisite destination offers an escape you won’t forget.

Tangsi Beach, Lombok, Indonesia

Swim, snorkel, and relax. Like most beaches, your to-do list here is blissfully minimal. However, there’s something different about Tangsi Beach on Lombok Island. The sands here boast a salmon-coloured tint, perfectly contrasting with the turquoise waters. But when’s the best time of day to visit this hidden gem? Well, the moon and sun may influence the colour of the sand, so we’d recommend visiting this beach during the golden hour. Sunset ambience combined with pink-coloured sand? Yes, please!

Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, Netherlands

Considered one of the most beautiful Spring Gardens in the world, Keukenhof is an idyllic place to visit. It’s often referred to as the ‘Garden of Europe’, and it’s easy to see why. This picturesque park covers an area of 32 hectares, with around seven million flowers! And yes, you’ll discover all the rainbow colours here, but the pink tulip fields take centre stage. Open daily from 23rd March to 14th May - this is the perfect spring retreat. You’ll need roughly two to four hours to walk through the entire garden. Expect nothing but sweet smells and beautiful flower-filled sights.

Grüne Zitadelle von Magdeburg in Magdeburg, Germany

Located in the heart of Magdeburg, Germany - this luscious, pastel-pink structure is nothing but dream-worthy. Despite being an architectural masterpiece, it only took two years to build! With individual living spaces, shops, function rooms, offices, and more, the Grüne Zitadelle is more than just a pretty face. Visit the highest tower of the building, and you’ll be rewarded with exceptional views.

Tan Dinh Church in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City is home to a striking church with an eye-catching pink hue and a beautiful blend of Gothic, Roman, and Baroque designs. This magnificent structure sits right by the Tan Dinh Textile Market. How about visiting it and taking pictures before browsing the perfectly presented stalls of intriguing fabric? The perfect way to spend an afternoon on your Vietnam holiday.
