Get out of the city and head across to Vancouver Island for a wildlife experience unlike any other. You can take a short 40-minute flight from Vancouver to Campbell River, or hop in your hire car and catch the ferry to Nanaimo, then drive 90 minutes up the east coast of Vancouver Island.
You'll spend a night at Campbell River before an early start the following morning, when you’ll travel by floatplane to Knight Inlet Lodge. There are various packages you can choose from for this trip, ranging from two nights to six. Whether you'd simply like a taste of the wilderness before continuing to explore British Columbia, or you want the full experience with plenty of excursions and activities, this is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime tour you'll never forget.
Upon arrival in Vancouver, make your way to your hotel and settle in. Once you’ve freshened up, why not spend the afternoon exploring Granville Island? Home to 70 eateries and plethora of boutiques, this foodie hub is just across False Creek and easily accessible from Downtown Vancouver.
Overnight - Downtown Vancouver
You’ll have two full days to discover all that Vancouver has to offer. Spend a morning wandering through Stanley Park or hire bikes cover more ground. If you’re visiting in summer, head to one of the city’s pretty beaches, or join a boat tour from Vancouver Harbour to admire the city from afar.
Want to get your adrenaline pumping? Take a walk on the wild side on the Capilano Suspension Bridge, which hovers 70 metres above the Capilano River, just north of Vancouver. From here you can also ride North America’s largest aerial tramway, or hop on Grouse Mountain Skyride for spectacular views of Vancouver and the surrounding mountains.

A great addition to any Western Canada holiday, Knight Inlet Lodge offers a unique wildlife viewing experience.
Make your way to Campbell River on Vancouver Island, where you'll spend the night. The day is yours to spend however you wish, so you can arrive at a time that suits you. You can check in from 3pm. (Please note, you must re-confirm your floatplane departure time for tomorrow when you check in.)
Overnight - Comfort Inn & Suites in Campbell River or similar
It's an early start today, but it's sure to be worth it. You'll take a transfer from your hotel at Campbell River to the floatplane at 8:15am, ready for a 9:30 departure. You'll enjoy a 25-minute floatplane journey over to Knight Inlet Lodge.
Settle in at the lodge before embarking on a small boat excursion in the estuary. In the afternoon, you'll head on not one, but two tours. The first is a bear-watching tour which, in spring and summer, is done by boat. Between late August and October, meanwhile, you'll be on a viewing platform. After hopefully spotting bears, you'll join a Knight Inlet sightseeing cruise. On all excursions, you'll be accompanied by knowledgeable guides trained in local wildlife and the natural history of the area. In the evening, you can relax in the lounge with the other guests and enjoy an interpretive presentation by one of the guides.

Overnight - Knight Inlet Lodge (2 nights)
This morning, you'll have the opportunity for an extra bear-viewing boat excursion. Then, at 10.00am, you'll return by floatplane to Campbell River.

Guests booked on a three-night package can participate in an extra bear-viewing and wildlife-watching excursion, as well as an interpretative hike through Kwalate River Valley and wildlife tracking.

Guests booked on a five- or six-night package can enjoy the extras on the four-night package, plus an excursion to the upper reaches of Knight Inlet.
