History & elegance

Since its grand opening in 1912, Fairmont Copley Plaza has been the symbol of Boston’s rich history and elegance. It was the first completely air-conditioned hotel in the city, and the first to accept credit cards. This place oozes history, but one of our favourite stories is about the OAK Long Bar + Kitchen. During Prohibition days, it was known as the Merry-Go-Round Bar and, as the name suggests, actually featured a merry-go-round. It remained in the bar until the Seventies, and even now you can still see the tracks on the floor.
