The Chedi Muscat blends the rich culture of Oman with the tranquillity of Japan, everywhere from its rooms to its dining spots to its spa. Jewel-toned lanterns, latticed designs and arched enclaves feel traditionally Middle Eastern. But the simple layout of its pool cabanas, patios and spacious rooms take plenty of inspiration from Japan. While the two sound pretty incompatible, this beautiful hotel has brought them together in a stylish way. Visit the Japanese spa for a relaxing treatment from the Far East before dinner at the palm-lined Arabian courtyard.
While The Chedi Muscat welcomes any kind of traveller, the resort is ideal for couples. Lounge by the adults-only pools with a refreshing drink in hand, take a romantic walk along the secluded sands, or break a sweat with a game of tennis. And, in the evenings, you can share a romantic dinner under the stars at one of six restaurants.
All of The Chedi Muscat’s eateries have been designed by Yasuhiro Koichi of Japanese interior designers DESIGN STUDIO SPIN. Each blends the minimalism favoured in Japan and the opulence synonymous with the Middle East. The result? Stylish dining rooms with open kitchens and carefully landscaped patios, that are the ideal setting for any mealtime. Dine on sashimi and sushi by the side of the long pool, or make your way around the globe during an international dinner at the Serai Pool Cabana.
The main dining room offers a range of international dishes and an award-winning wine list. You can dine under chandeliers or on the patios to the sounds of live piano music.
Sample seafood dishes on the patio overlooking the private sands, or pull up a chair in the dining room and pair the catch of the day with exceptional wines.
Middle Eastern dishes including shish tawook, chicken tagine and fish biryani can be found at this restaurant, which occupies a palm-fringed courtyard in the middle of the resort.
Sip a cold drink or tuck into international light bites and snacks next to one of The Chedi’s three pools. Choose a patio table if you’re eating, or take your drinks back to your sun loungers.
Grab a sheltered table next to the oceanside infinity pool at this adults-only spot. Nibble Mediterranean and Asian dishes or kick back with your favourite spirits, wines and beers.
Modern Japanese and Asian dishes are on the menu here. Sink into comfortable sofas on the patio after a busy day or grab refreshments between laps of the adults-only long pool.
Grab a coffee, drink or snack any time of day at The Chedi Muscat’s lobby lounge. Put your feet up and browse international newspapers and magazines or catch up under the Omani arches.
All 158 rooms and suites feel chic and spacious. High ceilings, large windows and mirrors amplify the already large rooms. And the subtle Asian-style decor, including dark wood frames and clean lines throughout, gives each space a minimalist feel that’s anything but boring. The Chedi Muscat offers understated style at its finest.
