Once you’ve had your fill of the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’, it’s time to head west towards the Golden State. The drive from Vegas to LA takes around four hours, as you meander through sweeping desert and dramatic national parks, before reaching Tinseltown. You can tick off postcard-worthy attractions like the Hollywood Sign and the Hollywood Walk of Fame, go behind the scenes at Universal Studios Hollywood, and look out across LA from the Griffith Observatory.

Next, you’ll journey up California’s coast to the lovely city of San Francisco. Spend your days seeing famous sites, like the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the Painted Ladies. Hop on a colourful tram and ride up and down San Fran’s steep hills, or walk down zigzagging Lombard Street. Explore Fisherman’s Wharf, go on a shopping spree in Union Square, and watch lazy sea lions lounging in the sun on Pier 33.

You’ll be able to explore Chicago’s windy streets, find out about Albuquerque’s colonial history, and – of course – spend some time in glittering Las Vegas. Your adventure comes to a close on the west coast, in star-studded Los Angeles.

Alternatively, if you prefer natural landscapes to cities, discover some of America’s stunning national parks. After a few days in Vegas, you can journey to the Grand Canyon – a site so vast, it has to be seen to be believed. Marvel at the burnt-orange Wave rock formation in Arizona, or continue down to Utah to marvel at Bryce Canyon National Park and Monument Valley.
