TANZANIA TOUR? NO TROUBLE.

Mainland Tanzania is vast, beautiful and home to an impressive amount of wildlife. From the mountains to the Serengeti, you can see magnificent elephants, majestic lions and more, as you embark on thrilling safari drives. And if heights don't faze you, you can even take a hot-air balloon ride to gawk at the stretching grasslands from a sky-high point of view. If you’ve got a big appetite for adventure, our Tanzania tours might be just what you’re looking for.

After adventuring the mainland, you can make a beeline for the stunning island of Zanzibar. This Swahili haven will help you truly understand the meaning of “hakuna matata”, as you relax on the idyllic beaches and explore historical Stone Town.

Our Tanzania itineraries allow you to take in the country’s glorious landscapes, trek one of the world’s iconic mountains, and encounter amazing animals. You can explore however you wish, whether that’s on an independent tour, an intimate small group tour, or an escorted tour with a knowledgeable guide. Tanzania’s possibilities are seemingly endless, and made more accessible than ever with a Travelbag tour.

For many people, hiking the almighty Mount Kilimanjaro is the ultimate bucket list dream. Every year, this world-famous mountain draws in thousands of people who spend days climbing to reach the snowy summit. Kilimanjaro attracts adventurous-spirited travellers who want a challenge. If that sounds like you, make sure you choose a Tanzania tour which includes a hike up the mountain.

While climbing Kilimanjaro has become more tourist-friendly in recent years, the hike is still a serious endeavour. But, with plenty of preparation and planning, you’re sure to reach the famous Roof of Africa in good time and health.

If you brave the challenge, standing at the top of Kilimanjaro at sunrise and gazing at the view might just be one of the most magical and satisfying feelings you’ll experience.

Tanzania is renowned for its sheer amount of wildlife, and the variety of it. There are more than four million wild animals in Tanzania, with 430 different species and subspecies. And the country is home to around a fifth of Africa’s large mammal population.

On a safari tour, you can expect to see antelope, buffalo, giraffes, gazelles, elephants, zebras, wildebeest, and more. You might also spot large predators like lions, leopards and cheetahs. Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area are two of the most popular wildlife areas to visit on a Tanzania tour.

Serengeti is the oldest national park in the country and is where you can see the world-famous wildebeest migration. This migration occurs every summer, when around 1.5 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebra and 300,000 gazelle seek grazing pastures. As you can imagine, observing it is quite the experience.

From its sparkling Indian Ocean beaches, to the calm shores of Lake Victoria to the grand heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania is boats some stunning natural landscapes. While the country is filled with rugged national parks, the country’s large lakes aren’t to be missed, either.

Lake Manyara was dubbed the “loveliest lake in Africa” by our Ernest Hemingway, and it’s certainly worth a visit. This alkaline lake attracts baboons, hippos, elephants, buffalo and other wild animals. It covers up to 200 square kilometres of land during the wet season, but is almost completely dry when the rain stops.

If you visit Lake Manyara during the wet season between November and May, you’ll have the best chance of observing local wildlife, including migratory flamingos who flock over.

After exploring Tanzania’s mainland, head to the paradise island of Zanzibar. This place is blessed with pale sand beaches, ornate Omani imperial architecture, and lively Islam-informed culture. It’s the perfect place to relax with a cocktail on the beach, after an action-packed tour of Tanzania.

Sink your toes into the sands of Nungwi, on the sleepy northwesternmost tip of the island, where you’ll find tropical gardens, sea-view restaurants and beach cottages. You can mingle with the locals, hop on a sundown cruise or embark on a deep-sea fishing excursion.

The Rock restaurant is a must-visit. Just as it sounds, this place is set on a rock sitting in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Found on the east coast, this famous eatery has become an icon of culinary excellence and a bucket-list dining spot. It often gets fully booked but, if you can nab a reservation, your taste buds will thank you for the experience.
