11 Day Northbound to Ningaloo Self Drive

Day 1:Perth - Geraldton

Set out in the early morning towards the historic twin towns of Dongara and Port Denison. Spend some time exploring these historic coastal spots or stop at the Greenough River Nature Trail located just to the south of Geraldton. Look out for the beautiful wild spring flowers (July to September).

Day 2: Geraldton - Carnarvon

Continue north to the tropical fruit town of Carnarvon. Visit a banana plantation, view the spectacular blowholes and from May to October, buy freshly caught seafood directly from the factories.

Days 3 & 4: Carnarvon - Exmouth

Drive north through the splendour of Coral Bay to Exmouth, the northern gateway to Ningaloo Marine Park. Spend a full day enjoying Ningaloo Marine Park; snorkel, dive, take a cruise or swim with Ningaloo whale sharks (from April to June) or discover beautiful Cape Range National Park nearby.

Day 5: Exmouth - Coral Bay

Re-trace your tracks today back to the stunning Coral Bay. Depart early to make the most of the day with the opportunity to swim with manta rays and take a quad bike trek to secret beaches for drift snorkelling.

Days 6 & 7: Coral Bay - Monkey Mia

Drive south along the North West Coastal Highway to Monkey Mia in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area. With a full day to relax in this beautiful area, you can visit the dolphins or stroll along the fantastic beaches. There are also boat tours which leave Monkey Mia to view the dugongs (sea cows) grazing among the seagrass beds.

Days 8 & 9: Monkey Mia - Kalbarri

Begin the journey south today as you travel to Kalbarri where you’ll enjoy a full day at leisure. This is the ideal place for the nature lover with the adjacent Kalbarri National Park offering the magnificent Murchison River Gorges, walks to the natural rock arch known as Nature’s Window, and activities including fishing, diving or just relaxing.

Day 10: Kalbarri - Cervantes

Make your way further south today to the town of Cervantes, perhaps stopping at Jurian Bay for pristine white sands and enticing clear waters. The Nambung National Park is famous for the Pinnacles, an expanse of natural limestone formations piercing skywards from the sand.

Day 11: Cervantes - Perth

Enjoy time on the beach or some fishing before making your way back to Perth.
