Arrive in New York City and transfer independently to your hotel. This first day is yours to spend at your leisure, before meeting your fellow travellers and Tour Director at your hotel in the evening.
Overnight – 4* Millennium Downtown New York, or similar
Leave New York behind as you set off for Philadelphia. You'll spend the morning exploring the historic district of the City of Brotherly Love and the birthplace of a Nation. You can see the Liberty Bell, then take a stroll through the Independence National Historic Park and Mall. The coach will then carry on to Washington D.C. where you'll spend the night.
Overnight – 4* Washington Hilton or 4* Omni Shoreham Hotel, or similar
Start the day with a city tour and tick off highlights including the US Capitol Building, Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, and the JFK Memorial. In the afternoon, you can explore further at your leisure. Why not visit one of the city's many Smithsonian museums? Or take a stroll along the banks of the Potomac River.

First up today is Gettysburg National Military Park. This is where one of the most decisive battles took place during the American Civil War, and also where Abraham Lincoln gave his famous address in 1863. Afterwards, you'll travel through scenic upstate New York, before crossing the border into Canada. You'll spend the night at Niagara Falls.

You’ll be able to spend the morning gaping at the thundering water of Niagara Falls. Stroll along Table Rock and view the torrent of water at Horseshoe Falls, or join a boat trip for a closer look. Later in the morning, your coach will return to the States and head for Detroit, aka ‘Motor City USA’. You'll be staying in the suburbs, where you can spend the evening at your leisure.

This morning kicks off with a couple of museum visits. Start at the Rouge Factory, before browsing the exhibits at the Henry Ford Museum. Then, you'll head to the nearby Ford plant to see a modern production vehicle roll off the busy factory floor. Afterwards, you'll leave the Motor City behind and journey inland to the south of Lake Michigan, where you'll stay in glittering Chicago.

First up today is a city highlights tour, which includes Lake Shore Drive, the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. Admire the Windy City’s stunning high-rise architecture and see one of the tallest buildings in the world, the Willis Tower. The rest of the day is yours to further explore the city at your own pace.

The scenery changes today as the coach travels through Midwest farm country, which is abundant in corn fields, wheat fields and dairy farms. Cross the mighty Mississippi River and travel into Iowa, just as Lewis and Clark did 200 years ago. You'll stay overnight in Sioux Falls.

Today the coach heads west through the grasslands of South Dakota, before reaching Badlands National Park. Once home to buffalo and antelope, this vast landscape is now filled with strange-shaped and colourful rock formations. Next up, you'll travel to the Black Hills, which are sacred to the Plains Indians. It's also where you'll find Mount Rushmore, where you can see the carved faces of four great American presidents, Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Roosevelt.

You'll drive into the state of Wyoming today, as you meander through mountain ranges, dusty deserts and rolling grasslands. Your final destination is Cody, but if this isn't possible due to weather or adverse road conditions, you'll stay in Billings/Livingston, Montana. Then, in the morning, you'll be perfectly placed for visiting Yellowstone National Park.

Head for Yellowstone first thing today. America’s first National Park, this vast landscape is famous for its geothermal wonders. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the park's incredible geysers, waterfalls, wildlife and canyons. Highlights include Yellowstone Lake, Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone Canyon’s majestic falls, and the beautiful Hayden Valley.
Overnight – 2* Kelly Inn West Yellowstone Hotel, or similar
Weather permitting, you'll drive through Grand Teton National Park today, where you can admire awesome mountain peaks towering above you. You'll visit the Snake River Outlook to get a snap of the landscape made famous by Ansel Adam. Keep your eyes peeled for buffalo, moose and elk, too, as they call the Prairies home. You'll then continue on to Utah, where you'll have a tour of its capital, Salt Lake City, too see the State Capitol building, Temple Square, and the Tabernacle. Afterwards, we'd suggest having dinner at a rooftop restaurant, where you can enjoy panoramic views over Temple Square (optional).

Travel to Bryce Canyon and enjoy a tour through a multi-coloured world of sandstone spires and pinnacles, called "hoodoos". If it’s a clear night, be sure to gaze upon the spectacular sky which will be filled with sparkling stars and brilliant constellations.

Leave Bryce Canyon behind, you'll head for Lake Powell to see crystal-clear waters lapping the red-rock canyon walls. This is the second-biggest man-made lake in America, and one of many formed from the damming of the Colorado River. The coach then continues to the mighty Grand Canyon National Park. Staggeringly big, this place has to be seen to be believed. Stop at the rim to fully marvel at the deep plunging gorge and the winding Colorado River below. You'll stay overnight in Flagstaff, a famed stop on the Historic Route 66.

Say goodbye to Flagstaff and travel to Las Vegas, the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’. On the way, you'll pass through Seligman – a town built on the famed Route 66, which looks as if it was frozen in time 60 years ago. When you reach Las Vegas, the afternoon is yours to spend however you wish. Stroll down The Strip, hop between the city's famous themed hotels, see a dazzling show, or try your luck in one of Sin City's many casinos.
Overnight – 4* Luxor Las Vegas – Pyramid Room, or similar
Leave the bright lights of Vegas behind as you make tracks for Los Angeles via the Mojave Desert, where you'll see clusters of Joshua trees. Once the coach reaches LA, you can enjoy a city tour to tick off the iconic Hollywood sign, Sunset Strip and the glamorous homes of Beverly Hills. This marks the end of your tour, as you spend one final night in the USA.
