Day 1: Arrive in Lima
Arrive today in Lima where you will be met by a representative and taken to your hotel.
Day 2: Lima
Take a walk and become acquainted with the great city of Lima, dubbed the ‘City of Kings’, and capital of Peru. Join your Tour Director for a private tour of the Case Diez Canseco, the manse of an illustrious local doctor who will guide you through his historical home before joining you for a home-cooked Be My Guest lunch. Afterwards, immerse yourself in the Historical Centre of Lima, delving deep into the haunting catacombs of San Francisco Monastery with a local expert. Finally take a stroll around the Larco Museum and peruse the pre-Columbian artefacts and antiquities on display.

Day 3: Lima – Cuzco – Sacred Valley
Catch a flight to Cuzco and head over to the Sacred Valley with a local expert. Stop at Awana Kancha textile mill en route, and take a look at the llamas and alpacas up close. Continue on to Wayra Ranch and a show of performing dancers entertain and horsemanship skills are displayed while you enjoy lunch. Afterwards, meet a ceramist who will show you how to make your own pottery souvenir to take with you. Sample some of the local chicha made from corn beer, and in the evening meet an Andean storyteller who will tell you all there is to know about the local legends of the surrounding area after making your own pizza.

Day 4: Machu Picchu
Ride a train up to the mystic ruins of the beautiful lost city of Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Walk among the Temple of the Sun, Sacred Plaza, and House of the Priest, all intricately created with the trademark designs of the Inca Empire. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a hike up to the Gate of the Sun, an amazing vantage point from which you can look out over the glorious views of the valley below.

Day 5: Sacred Valley
Take advantage of the myriad of activities at your disposal at the Sacred Valley, from river rafting to horseback riding. Enjoy a Highlight Lunch at a Peruvian Pachamanca feast that you can help prepare. Afterwards you can meet with a local shaman for a demonstration of the Inca’s Earth ceremony. Kids can be taught the ancient Inca game of Sapo, and in the evening enjoy the wonder of the starry sky from the Observatory.

Day 6: Sacred Valley – Maras – Sacsayhuaman – Cuzco
Learn about Peru’s historic roots in the origin of potatoes at a Peruvian farm field, and then continue on for a donkey ride through the quaint village of Maras with a guide to view the Inca salt pans.
Take lunch with a local family where you can learn how to make the local speciality of quinua soup. Finish off with a visit of the ruins of Sacsayhuaman to view the colossal stones the Incas built atop of each other to form their structures.

Day 7: Cuzco
Join a local expert today for a tour of Cuzco’s splendid religious pinnacle of the Inca Empire, the Temple of the Sun and colonial Cathedral. Learn from expert weavers as they create detailed, traditional Andean textiles. In the afternoon you can explore the wonders found around the city by yourself, while at night you can join in on the traditional dancing over dinner.

Day 8: Cuzco – Lima – Ica
Catch a flight back to Lima and journey into the arid, Peruvian desert through to Ica, home of the Regional Museum that houses a number of preserved mummies from pre-Inca civilisations.

Day 9: Ica
View the mysterious geoglyphs that are the Nazca Lines and marvel at the creatures and characters that are drawn onto the rocky plateau from above. Afterwards, adults can try some Pisco, aa local speciality, at El Catador Pisco Winery, while kids enjoy the wonders of a chocolate factory. Take a thrilling dune buggy ride and sand-boarding experience over the sandy landscape, and in the evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner and recount your adventures with your fellow travellers.

Day 10: Ica – Ballestas Islands - Lima
Take a motorboat excursion to the Ballestas Islands and view the abundant wildlife of birds, penguins, and sea lions, with a local expert. Make sure to take a look back at the mysterious Candelabra carved directly into the earth as you make your way back to Lima.

Depart Lima today from the airport on your return flight home.
