Day 1: Arrive in Lima
Arrive in Lima, the City of Kings, where you will be met by a local representative and taken to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima
Spend the morning at leisure before meeting your fellow travellers and Travel Director for a tour of the colonial home of local Dr. Diez Canseco, followed by a Welcome Reception and home-cooked Peruvian Be My Guest Lunch. The afternoon can be spent touring the historical capital of Peru with a local expert. Visit the Church of San Francisco and its haunting catacombs, as well as the majestic Archbishop’s Palace and Cathedral that open out into Lima’s splendid Plaza San Martin.

Day 3: Lima – Cuzco – Sacred Valley
Catch a flight to Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, and continue on to Awana Kancha textile mill in the Sacred Valley. Watch local weavers craft traditional Andean textiles, and get up close and personal with the native llamas and alpacas with a local expert. After a picnic lunch, check out the marketplace of Pisac and browse the handicrafts on show. Visit a local chicheria and sample some of the local chicha beverage, a refreshing speciality of the Andes made from corn beer.

Day 4: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu
Board the Vistadome train and ascend towards the ancient fortress ruins of Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, sat upon its plateau overlooking the Sacred Valley below. Once you arrive, feel free to explore the stunning site with a local expert, stopping at the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Plaza, the House of the Priest, and the Intihuatana, a supposed ancient stone-carved sun dial.

Day 5: Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo - Cuzco
Begin the day with another close look at the ruins of Machu Picchu alone; perhaps view the stunning vistas from the Gate of the Sun, before heading back down to the Sacred Valley. Make your way to the Ollantaytambo Inca stronghold, and navigate the old-world structures of the archaeological site, from the ascending terraces to the Wall of the Six Monoliths.

Day 6: Cuzco
Join a local expert in the morning for an exploration of the city of Cuzco, filled with beautiful colonial landmarks, such as the Cathedral with its intricate designs. Walk the cobbled streets of San Blas, visit the La Casa Concha Museum, and discover the looming ruins of Sacsayhuaman before meeting with a local expert to learn all about the Inca civilisation of the surrounding areas.

Day 7: Cuzco – Juliaca - Puno
Today you will take an adventure with a local expert around the ancient Temple of Qurikancha; a revered temple and the most significant of the Inca Empire, built in dedication to the Sun God, Inti. Follow this on with lunch at a local restaurant before flying to the city of Juliaca. From here you will transfer to Puno, following the shoreline of the glorious Lake Titicaca, offering magnificent views over the lake as the sun sets over the horizon.

Day 8: Lake Titicaca
Take a cruise across to the mystical floating Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca. The islands are inhabited by native Uros Indians and have constructed their islands from reeds, originally used as a defensive tactic in ancient times. Afterwards, take a private tour of Taquile Island where the locals can show you their renowned weaving and knitting techniques before enjoying a local lunch and hear stories of the native culture of the islands.

Day 9: Puna – Juliaca - Lima
Head back to Juliaca for your return flight to Lima for some free time at leisure to relax, or explore. In the evening, experience the rare treat of visiting the Larco Museum after dark; see the largest private collection of pre-Columbian art and antiquities while learning about the historical cultures of the Peruvians. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner of local delicacies with your fellow travellers, with a view of the museum’s lush gardens, and stories of your adventure.

Day 10: Depart Lima
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
