Arrive in the city of Muscat where you will meet with your guide who will take you to your hotel. Once checked in you will embark on a half day city tour beginning with the old sector of Muscat. Visit the Bait Zubair Museum which was originally founded as a house by a rich merchant whose hobby was to collect antiques and take photographs, he converted the house into a museum to showcase the cultural artefacts of Oman. Continue on to Al Alam Palace, the official palace of the Sultan Qaboos, which is flanked by two forts; Jalali Fort and Mirani Fort. Jalali Fort is a refurbished fort that is now used as a museum for guests of state and royalty only. Later, drive along to the Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest souq’s in Oman whose mystical scents fill the narrow alleyways and is an ideal location to purchase souvenirs before returning to the hotel for the evening.
Today you will meet with your guide to explore the coastline after a visit of the Grand Mosque, one of the largest Mosques in the world, adorned with beautiful artwork, intricate chandelier and one piece carpet. After visiting the mosque, continue on to Jebel Akhtar with a visit to the Birkat Al Mauz en route where the locals grow date palm trees. Take a stroll through the old village and date farms while your guide educates you on the cultivation process and irrigation system throughout the area. Arrive at the peak of the mountains and take in the beautiful scenery before checking in to your hotel.
Please Note: In order to visit the Grand Mosque guests have to be dressed conservatively, meaning no transparent clothing and guests should be covered from head to toe. Ladies must cover their heads with a scarf and children younger than 10 years cannot enter.

Enjoy breakfast and continue your adventure, heading to the Nizwa Souq where every Friday there is a lively cattle market where cattle owners sell their livestock to locals. Head afterwards to the Nizwa Fort which features an enormous round tower built by a sultan in the 17th century as a means of defence. The fort dominates the area, with the town being built around the vast structure. The top of the tower is accessed by narrow winding stairs and through heavy wooden doors. From atop the tower, travellers can see amazing views over the Nizwa cityscape. The next landmark on your journey is the castle of Bahla, a 12th century mud fort once known as a mystical village. Drive on to the old village of Al Hamrah for a walk through to Bait Al Safa, a local museum made by the villagers to showcase the Omani house. After the visit, traverse the farms of the locals before driving on to Mifah, a charming village filled with mud huts that date back hundreds of years. Continue on through the Grand Canyon of Jebel Shams, meaning “Mountain of Suns”, the highest point in Oman. Enjoy a walk around the area before returning to your hotel before sunset.

Depart after breakfast for Jabrin with a stop on the way to Tanuf. At Jabrin you will bear witness to an amazing castle which later went on to become the seat of Omani learning. The painting that is displayed along the ceiling consists of beautifully intricate wood carving designs. Afterward, proceed to Wahiba Sands, home of the ancient Bedouin tribe whose knowledge of the sands goes beyond extensive. The shifting sands of the dunes create an ever-shifting landscape that creates a canvas of brown and golden hues. Visit a Bedouin house and enjoy dinner and overnight stay at a camp.

Wake up to a campsite breakfast and continue with your guide across the desert setting. Stop at a Bedouin house to learn about life in the desert and enjoy some Omani coffee with dates. Leave the desert behind and travel towards Wadi Bani Khaled, whose lush landscape is a strong contrast to the arid vista of the Wahiba desert. Enjoy a walk through the area or bathe in the natural emerald waters before heading towards Sur where, come night time you can keep on the lookout for green back turtles crawling across the beach before heading back to the hotel.

Check out from the hotel after breakfast and embark on a tour of the city of Sur on an orientation drive. Pass by the local souq and Dhow building yard. Collect a picnic lunch and continue on to Wadi Tiwi, whose village is surrounded by date, mango, papaya and banana trees. Your guide will inform you of the cultivation system the locals follow in order to grow the fruits. Next, you will move on to the Fins Beach, also known as “White Beach” where you can relax and swim before continuing on to the natural wonder of the Bimmah sink hole, a limestone crater with green and blue hued water pooled at the bottom. The next stop is Wadi Arbyn, and then some off-road driving leading to Quriyat fishing village whose daily catch goes on to be sold at the local market along the beach. After a photo stop, you will journey on and end the day in Mussanah for a check in at the Hotel Millennium.
