Arrive in Auckland where you will be transferred to your hotel ahead of the start of your trip

Leave Auckland and head north for the Parry Kauri Park to see an example of the Kauri Tree and to visit the Kauri Museum before travelling on to Paihia. The day ends with a visit to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed by the British Crown and Maori Chiefs back in 1840. The following day is then free to take in one of the many optional activities around the Bay of Islands.

Travel on a luxury catamaran to Cape Brett to pay a visit to the famous Hole in the Rock before bidding farewell to the Bay of Islands. Travel back south to Auckland via Whangarei, Wellsford and Warkworth for a short city tour and some free time before arriving at your hotel.

Leave Auckland for Glenbrook Vintage Railway and a trip down memory lane on a beautifully restored vintage steam train, with morning tea included. After lunch at Longlands Restaurant, continue onwards to Rotorua for a visit to a local wildlife park. The following day, take a gondola ride to Cableway Restaurant before checking out the famous mud pools and geysers at Te Puia. A traditional Maori Hangi, where food is cooked using heated rocks buried in a pit oven, and a concert bring the curtain down on your time in the town.

Leaving Rotorua, travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway to the Huka Falls, where you can see the spectacular sight of 220,000 litres of clear blue water blasting by every second. Continuing on to Lake Taupo, and after a visit to the Southward Car Museum, the next stop is Wellington where the following day is free to allow you to explore at leisure.

Board the Interislander Ferry to head for the South Island where you’ll join the Coastal Pacific train to journey down to the coast between the Pacific Ocean and the Kaikoura Ranges to the village of Kaikoura. Leaving the train behind, journey across the Northern Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, where the following day you will be taken on a city tour before visiting the International Antarctic Centre. The afternoon is then yours to spend at your leisure.

Board the famous TranzAlpine for a trip known as one of the great train journeys in the world. Travel over huge viaducts and through spectacular gorges as you travel through Arthur’s Pass in the middle of the Southern Alps. After your train journey, return to the coach to travel onwards to Hokitika and Franz Josef where you can visit Fox Glacier, with the opportunity of an optional scenic flight over the spectacular glaciers.

Take in the beauty of the Southern Alps as you travel south along the West Coast and journey through the stunning Haast Pass before arriving in Queenstown. The remainder of the evening and the following day are free for you to explore at your leisure before a trip onboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw allows you to cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station. Here, enjoy a feature dinner in the Colonel’s Homestead.

Travel to Arrowtown for a visit to the Lakes District Museum before journeying on to Te Anau to visit the stunning Milford Sound. Boarding the Milford Mariner, you’ll enjoy an overnight cruise that allows you to experience the spectacular waterfalls, rainforests and mountains that surround this most beautiful of locations.
After a hearty breakfast onboard the Mariner, head out to the Tasman Sea (weather permitting) to explore more of the fiord before returning to the Wharf to meet the coach and continue your trip. After the scenic drive to Te Anau, take a cruise on the lake to visit the Glow Worm Caves to admire incredible limestone caverns and waterfalls, and gaze at the mystery of the Glow Worm Grotto.

Leave Te Anau and head to Dunedin via Gore and Balclutha. Having arrived at the 'Edinburgh of the South', take an informative city tour that includes a visit to Olveston House – a historic home dating back to the early 1900s. The following day, travel along the Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle for a tour of the only castle in New Zealand before morning tea at Glenfalloch Restaurant. An afternoon tour by train of the Taieri Gorge is followed by transfer to your hotel.

Travel to the town of Oamaru to explore the Victorian Precinct of shops, galleries and museums before continuing on to Christchurch for a farewell dinner.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
