This Grand Pacific Tour takes you through the sites of both the South and North Islands in New Zealand. Going to all the must see stops and starting on the South Island see the spectacular mountain ranges of Mount Cook, visit the only Castle in New Zealand, Larnach Castle and take an iconic cruise on Milford Sounds. This tour packs in a lot of activities with key highlights including an evening cruise on the TSS Earnslaw steamship as well as a trip on the TranzAlpine through the Southern Alps and that is only the South Island. Catch the ferry across the Cooks Straits and spend some time in Wellington before heading up to Rotorua where you will visit the mud pools and geysers which are a must do whilst your here. The final destination on the tour is the ‘City of Sails’, Auckland where you will be able to explore at your own pace before enjoying your last evening with the group at a farewell dinner.

Day 1 - Arrive Christchurch
On arrival in Christchurch meet your Grand Pacific Tours representative and transfer to you hotel.

Day 2 - Christchurch - Omarama
This morning enjoy an introductory city sights tour and then travel through the southern Canterbury Plains to Lake Tekapo. See the turquoise waters, visit The Church of the Good Shepherd and view the Sheep Dog statue as well as getting a spectacular view of the Mt Cook mountain ranges. There is the option this afternoon (time and weather permitting) to enjoy a scenic flight (optional extra) over the Southern Alps before heading to Omarama.

Day 3 - Omarama - Dunedin
Head out to see Lake Benmore and then continue on following the Waitaki River to Oamaru which is famous for its limestone. Carry on south to Dunedin and enjoy a city sights tour followed by some free time. This evening is focused on Scotland with bagpipes, great food, a special haggis ceremony and gifts.

Day 4 - Dunedin - Te Anau
Today travel out along the Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle, join a guided tour and hear about the tragic and scandalous history. Spend some time wandering the Garden of International Significance followed by a Devonshire tea. Say farewell to Dunedin and travel through Balclutha and Gore to Te Anau which is the gateway to Fiordland and your overnight stay. There is time in the afternoon to visit Te Anau Glow Worm Caves (optional extra) or just enjoy your new surroundings.

Day 5 - Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown
Depart Te Anau and start the fabulous drive to Milfors Sound, on arrival board the vessel for a cruise on this magnificent fiord. Marvel at the spectacular Bowen Falls and towering Mitre Peak as you enjoy a picnic lunch. Head back to Queenstown which will be home for the next two nights, this year round resort offer a range of attractions and activities. Spend the evening at your leisure maybe choose to dine at one of the many fine restaurants.

Day 6 - Queenstown
Today is yours to spend time exploring Queenstown and your Coach Captain & Tour Guide will be on hand to assist with sightseeing options. Maybe opt to hop on a jet boat ride, a heritage tour to Skippers Canyon or get up close to a Kiwi Bird. Meet up with the group this evening and board the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw, cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Station where you’ll enjoy a gourmet barbecue dinner at Colonel’s Homestead with locally sourced food. There will also be a short farm tour before heading back aboard to relax as the vessel cruises back to Queenstown.

Day 7 - Queenstown - Arrowtown - Fox Glacier
This morning sees the group travel to Arrowtown to visit the Lakes District Museum before continuing via the Haast Pass to the West Coast. As you travel to Fox Glacier see the snow capped peaks of the Southern Alps and weather permitting there is time this afternoon to experience a scenic flight (optional extra) over the amazing glaciers.

Day 8 - Fox Glacier - Arthur's Pass - Christchurch
This morning start with a visit to Greenstone Factory in Hokitika and then continue to Arthur’s Pass and board the TranzAlpine, renowned as one of the great train journeys of the world. As you travel through the Waimakariri Basin see rivers and valleys, pass over massive viaducts and through patchwork farmlands of the Canterbury Plains and into Christchurch where on arrival you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

Day 9 - Christchurch - Picton - Wellington
As you travel along the East Coast enjoy the spectacular scenery of Marlborough Country which is famous for food and wine. Continuing onto Picton where you catch the interislander ferry and journey through the Marlborough Sounds and across the Cooks Straits to Wellington.

Day 10 - Wellington
This morning will be spent at Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum which has exhibits that embrace both Maori and European views. Back aboard the coach enjoy an extensive city tour which showcases the history and culture of the area. This afternoon is at your leisure to relax or further explore Wellington.

Day 11 - Wellington - Taupo - Rotorua
Travel to Lake Taupo today, on route view the snow capped peaks of Mt Ruapehu and Mt Tongariro. The group will visit Huka Falls and then travel along the Thermal Explorer Highway to the Geothermal wonderland of Rotorua.

Day 12 - Rotorua
Start the day with a gondola ride and breakfast at the Skyline Rotorua, as well as a luge ride if you fancy it! Carry on to Agrodome for an action packed hour of farming entertainment and education which will definitely be unlike anything you’ve seen before. You can’t spend time in Rotorua without a visit to the mud pools and geysers so Te Puia is the next stop of the day. After a busy morning spend some time relaxing this afternoon before experiencing a Maori Hangi and concert in the evening.

Day 13 Rotorua - Auckland
Today sees the group leave Rotorua and head for the ‘City of Sails’, Auckland. Spend the afternoon exploring the city as your choose before meeting back up with the group for the last dinner.

Day 14 - Depart Auckland
Say farewell to New Zealand and transfer to the airport for your flight home.
