Day 1: Arrive Phnom Penh
Arrive in Phnom Penh to meet your guide before being transferred to your hotel to check in as you prepare to the start of your adventure in the Cambodian capital city.

Day 2: Phnom Penh
A day exploring Phnom Penh starts with a visit to the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, the latter given its name thanks to the large number of silver tiles that cover its floors. You’ll then head for the National Museum before returning to your hotel for a break in the middle of the day. The afternoon is then set aside to discovering more about the Cambodia’s recent troubled history as you visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, located in a former school that was turned into a torture and detention centre by the Khmer Rouge. You’ll then head out of the city to the Choeung Ek Killing Fields for a further stark reminder of the issues faced by the Cambodian people in the not-too-distant past.

Day 3: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap
Following breakfast, you’ll transfer to the airport in Phnom Penh to take a flight to Siem Reap, the gateway to the famed Temples of Angkor. After being greeted on arrival by your guide, you’ll transfer to your hotel with the remainder of the day being spent at leisure.

Day 4: Siem Reap
The day starts early with a visit to the famous Angkor Wat temple to watch the sun rise, with your early arrival providing you with the ideal opportunity to explore the stunning building – which features on Cambodia’s national flag – before a greater number of tourists arrive. Following breakfast at a nearby café, you’ll then head for the ancient city of Angkor Thom where you can visit a number of the stunning sights; including the Bayon Temple, Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. A break back at your hotel follows before an afternoon excursion to Banteay Srei, a pink sandstone temple regarded as the best preserved in Cambodia. You’ll then visit the overgrown ruins at Ta Prohm before an evening at leisure to recover from a busy day.

Day 5: Siem Reap – Ho Chi Minh
Enjoy time at leisure to relax at the hotel or to pay a visit to Siem Reap’s markets before heading to the airport to take a flight to Ho Chi Minh, with the remainder of the day being spent at leisure on arrival in Vietnam.

Day 6: Ho Chi Minh
Make an early start to head out of Ho Chi Minh for the trip to the Cu Chi district, with the chance to enjoy the local scenery en-route as you journey through rice paddies and local villages. On arrival, you’ll pay a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels to see what life was like as a member of the Viet Cong based underground during the French and American wars. You’ll then have the option of a visit to the War Remnants or History Museum as you return to Ho Chi Minh to see the major sights; including the former Presidential Palace, the Old Saigon Post Office and the Opera House.

Day 7: Cai Be/Mekong Delta
Head out of the city to take a drive to Cai Be where you will board a boat for a cruise around the town’s busy floating market to watch the local traders going about their business. You’ll also have chance to visit a local cottage factory before a cruise to Dong Hiep Island; taking in the beautiful scenery along the riverside en-route. There will also be opportunity to enjoy a local Mekong style lunch before your cruise ends and you head back to Ho Chi Minh.

Day 8: Ho Chi Minh – Hue
Following breakfast, you’ll head for the airport to fly to Hue, where you will meet your guide and transfer to your hotel to drop off your luggage. Your tour of the city then begins with a visit to the Imperial Citadel and Thien Mu Pagoda before a trip to the impressive Mausoleum of Tu Duc; which was originally used as a palace retreat by the Emperor before becoming his final resting place.

Day 9: Hue – Danang/Hoi An
Journey from Hue to the trading port of Hoi An along a scenic route that will include the chance to stop off in the beautiful fishing village of Lang Co and the opportunity to travel across the infamous Pass of Ocean Clouds. On arrival in Hoi An, your afternoon will be spent at leisure wandering around former merchants houses and the local market, while also paying a visit to the well-known Japanese Covered Bridge.

Day 10: Hoi An
Enjoy a day at leisure to explore the sights around Hoi An, with the opportunity to visit some of the museums that tell the story of the region, take in an excursion by boat to some of the local villages or out to Cham Island (own cost) or spend time relaxing on Hoi An’s beautiful beach.

Day 11: Hoi An – Halong City
Leave Hoi An to travel to the airport for a flight to Hanoi before taking a drive to Halong City where you will spend the evening at leisure on arrival.

Day 12: Halong Bay – Hanoi
Following breakfast, you’ll head to the pier to board a day junk for a cruise around the beautiful waters around Halong Bay, enjoying lunch onboard as you sail through the numerous limestone islands that can be found off the coast. Following the conclusion of your cruise, you’ll then head back to Hanoi where your day will end with the opportunity to take in a Vietnamese Water Puppet show that depicts scenes from rural life.

Day 13: Hanoi
Your final full day in Vietnam will start with a trip to the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the man regarded as the father of the modern nation. Continue on to see his former home and the impressive One Pillar Pagoda, which is now seen as an important symbol to the people who call Hanoi home. After visits to the Temple of Literature and the Buddhist temple at Tran Quoc, you’ll then spend the afternoon exploring the Hoa Lo Prison and the Old Quarter; where you can wander amongst the many shops and markets that line the streets.

Day 14: Hanoi departure
Leave your hotel to head for the airport and your return flight home.
