Day 1: Arrive Hanoi
Arrive in Vietnam and meet your guide before being transferred to your hotel for check-in, with the remainder of the day being free at leisure to do as you wish.

Day 2: Hanoi
Spend a full day exploring the sights of Hanoi on a city tour, starting with the chance to visit the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh; the father of modern Vietnam. From there, you’ll take the short trip to the wooden house that was his temporary home in his later life and can also admire the stunning One Pillar Pagoda, an impressive Buddhist temple regarded as one of the most iconic to be found anywhere in the country. The Temple of Literature university and the temples at Tran Quoc and Quan Thanh also feature on the tour, as does the Hoa Lo Prison, where American Prisoners of War were held during the Vietnam war. While much of the prison, dubbed the Hanoi Hilton, has now been demolished, a museum remains to tell the story of what once stood in the area. A busy day comes to an end with the visit to the Old Quarter of the city to explore the bustling network of narrow streets before catching a Water Puppet show; which depicts scenes from rural life in a unique style.

Day 3: Hanoi – Halong
Leave Hanoi behind to take the trip to Halong Bay, passing through a number of small villages as you head across the Red River Delta to see the locals hard at work in the rice fields and heading to market. After a late morning arrival, you’ll join a cruise into Halong Bay to sail around the numerous limestone islands and rock formations to be found in the bay itself. As the day draws to a close, the anchor will drop as you prepare to spend a night on the water, watching the sun set before enjoying dinner onboard.

Day 4: Halong – Hanoi – Hoi An
Your time onboard the ship comes to an end as you return to shore after breakfast onboard, before heading back to Hanoi to catch a flight to Da Nang. On arrival, you’ll then be transferred to your hotel in Hoi An.

Day 5: Hoi An walking tour
Spend a half day exploring the ancient trading town of Hoi An, with the opportunity to visit some of the former merchant houses that can be found throughout the town and the impressive Japanese Covered Bridge – a 400-year-old structure that built to join two areas of the town together. You’ll also call in at the Hoi An Museum and visit the local market before the rest of the day is spent at leisure.

Day 6: Hoi An – Da Nang – Hue
Leave Hoi An and return to Da Nang to admire the vast selection of sculptures to be found at the Cham Museum. You’ll then travel across the famous Hai Van Pass to the small fishing village of Lang Co, which provides the ideal opportunity to take some picturesque photos that will serve as a fine momento of your time away. Continuing on your journey to Hue, you’ll visit the mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc and have chance to admire the tomb of Khai Dinh, which features a mixture of Western and Eastern architecture and can be found just outside Hue on the side of the Chau Chu mountain.

Day 7: Hue – Hoi Chi Minh
Head for the airport in Hue to catch a flight to Ho Chi Minh, where you will be transferred to your hotel before spending the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 8: Cu Chi Tunnels
Leave Ho Chi Minh early in the morning to head for the Cu Chi District, passing through rice paddies and seeing locals going about their daily business as you journey through a series of small villages. On arrival at the Cu Chi Tunnels, you’ll have the opportunity to see what life would have been like as a guerrilla fighter as you head underground into the network of tunnels created by the Viet Cong and used during both the French and American wars. The remainder of the day is spent at leisure back in Ho Chi Minh.

Day 9: Ho Chi Minh – Cai Be – Can Tho
Hit the road as you travel from Ho Chi Minh to Cai Be to board a boat that will take you out to explore the Cai Be floating market – where you can see the local traders doing business on the water. You’ll then visit a local cottage factory before cruising along the river to Dong Hoa Hiep Island; admiring the wonderful scenery and seeing the locals working in the villages along the riverbank. After a Mekong style lunch, the cruise will come to an end before you continue by road to can Tho to spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 10: Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh
Cruise around the Cai Rang floating market to see the wholesalers doing business selling fruit and vegetable amidst a maze of waterways created by the vessels that have moored up to trade. Having explored the markets and Can Tho, you’ll travel back to Ho Chi Minh for your final night.

Day 11: Ho Chi Minh
Check out of your hotel and head to the airport for your flight home.
